    LMAO at Manchester United.

Lost at home to Newcastle. First time Newcastle has won at Old Trafford in 41 years.

Rumor has it Robin Van Persie turned in his transfer request.

Liverpool are clicking on all cylinders right now.

Also in old and new news. Klinsmann has been signed on for 4 more years. Given the strides US has made in his short term, I'm hoping the strides we've made will lead to a better long term US. Getting a group of death draw is potentially bad for America, but if they get out it will be huge.

On the newer side Dempsey is rumored to be going back to FUlham on a short loan. Good for him. His injuries at the end of 2013 set him up poorly for the WC run. He needs some competitive matches to up his fitness. Wonder who else from the US in MLS will go to England. Health permitting I think Landycakes should. Would be nice if he went on loan to FUlham or Sunderland to be with a teammate. I think Besler and Gonzalez will go to England or Germany on a lesser squad. Would be sweet if a team needed both of them and they got to work together. And I think Zusi finds a home somewhere on a bad team. Don't know who else will go. Don't think guys like Eddie Johnson will be well sought after commodities.

Arsenal on the the cusp (hopefully) of signing Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid!

If true, then Arsenal will likely be champs! Costa could also be a huge force in CL.

Bradley and Jermaine Defoe to Toronto FC. Not happy about the Bradley move, supposedly his salary is going way up so can't blame him. Wish he played in England instead. he's not gonna be as good as he used to.

Also Shea on loan to Bardsley.

With the deadline officially done, some thoughts. Arsenal made no moves, but I don't see a pressing need for them, they madea loan move and loaned some guys out and cut a few guys. Nothing major. City also made no moves, but like Arsenal that's probably a good thing. Chelsea on the other hand was very active, first the controversial selling of Mata, then their big bring in move was Matic. The other big move for them was letting the young De Brunye leave. Liverpool made no big moves which is good in a way (keeping Suarez) but they have holes that they should have assessed. Spurs sold Defoe and loaned out Holtby, both somewhat headscratchers since they seemed very in favor last year, and Tottenham keeps playing Sigurdsson over Holtby which from a quality standpoint doesn't make sense. Everton made a lot of small moves. Not sure what to make of them. Man U was the big mover and shaker of the transfer window adding Mata who's a piece they've been missing if he's utilized either as a winger or if he's used as a Silva/Ozil type. They loaned out a ton, but their big sale was getting rid of Fabio. New Castle sold Cabaye which is big for them and got Luuk De Jong on loan. May position them better for this season but long term that's scary.

On a non-contender level Stoke acquired Juan Agudelo and then loaned him out, but that brings the total Americans on that squad (well 3 of them are on loan) to 4. They hold onto now 2 of the more promising but questionable Americans in Agudelo and Shea, hopefully they don't wreck their development.

Defoe is third choice striker and was about to get passed by Kane. Good for him that he gets to go somewhere and play.

Siggy plays alot bc he plays on the left side they don't really have much on the left side. Erikson is currently playing there out of necessity. Holtby is a holding midfielder and has to compete against Erikson (when not on the left), Dembelle, Cap, Paulinho, and Sandro. And now the young kid Bentaleb has been playing well so no real spot for Holtby.

But Sigurdsson has not played well period. Maybe they should just leave Erikson out there and throw someone else as a holding. Also Sandro has not played very well this year.

Their 5 best midfielders this season have been Dembele, Townsend, Erikson, Paulhino, and Lennon, Holtby is near the top of that next group. If one of those guys isn't starting or subbing, Holtby should be one of the first considerations. Given how bad Sigurddson has been in possession (more turnovers and less key passes than Holtby) why not just leave Erikson up there? I mean they basically run a 4-2-3-1 right? Though I guess they've been using Soldado more recently right? If that's the case maybe a 4-1-3-2 would be better and play a more middle game. Can't give minutes to a guy who's been severely out of form. Kicker with Sigurdsson is that he's been in very poor form in the premier league cancelling out his hotstreak from earlier where he was in good scoring form.

They switched to a 4-4-2 under Sherwood. Siggy plays sporatically since Sherwood took over. Essentially Soldado/Ade up top with Erikson/Paulinho/X/Lennon behind them.

Sandro has played well. He's the best defensive midfielder they have. Holtby is nothing special, essentially another body.

Siggy is inconsistent, but is a guy that gets in good positions and finds a way to score key goals. That is why gets him in the lineup.

Sandro is OK if you just want a defender, his offensive contributions are often that.

BTW does anyone else thing Ribery got robbed? I mean Ronaldo was great, that's for sure, and Ribery has missed time, but unlike Ronaldo, Ribery was a key for his team winning both the UCL and the Bundesliga. Bayern is also well on it's way to another league title and Ribery was also key for France which is the same argument used for Ronaldo.

On a similar note, how did Man City/Barca and Arsenal/Bayern get a draw? And then do they get each other after that?
