Aggression with prospects is fine, but being stupid is not. There should be a way to find a happy medium between a Pirates like idea of being overly cautious with prospects and going stupidly fast with prospects.
???
Over the last 10 years or so, they've had about 9 pitchers drafted in the first round. The only bust so far has been Casey Weathers and he was a reliever.
Carson Fulmer is reaching "bust" category but he's still young. Price, Gray, and Minor turned into successful major league pitchers. Every other pitcher is still highly regarded as a prospect.
Shoot, I would argue Vandy has had pretty big success rates.
David Price, Mike Minor, Sonny Gray, Tyler Beede, Walker Buehler, Carson Fulmer.
Just about everybody who was drafted first round has made it to the Majors, Most of them have had their moments of success there.
Swanson gotta be starting at SS tonight, right?
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...
Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?
Wright's struggles might be a product of one of the things that made him such a coveted draft pick. Wright wasn't as polished as you'd expect from a college pitcher with his resume. He had all the pieces you want in a top pitcher but hadn't put them all together yet. Still hasn't.
I think this is contributing to Wright's inconsistent starts. He's still forging all of his disparate tools into a cohesive unit.
