Funny. I had totally forgotten about Pastornicky.
Not really, he wasn't getting any playing time. Not even in full uni the last two weeks. The more I think about it, the more convinced I am there was serious upset in the clubhouse. Even Greg Norton got at bats, as did Hinske, Conrad, and Lockhart in their years as the 25th man but Uggla didn't. Bound to be more to the story.
I've wondered if Uggla was to loose about 25 lbs. of muscle, would he be able to hit the ball again? I can't help but to think he's to big, to stiff, and now that he's a little older all that just get's in the way. Wasn't it Ron Gant that people speculated kind of lost a lot of his ability because he was body building and that made him slow and stiff?
Dan Uggla signs with Giants. (Minor league deal)
Giants are becoming ex-Braves -- Uggla, Hudson, Hicks, Blanco
It sounded like there was some clause in Uggla's contract with the Giants. If he isn't called up to major leagues by August 1st they must release him.
What does Uggla getting signed mean if anything to the Braves as far as paying him goes?
Depends on what the Giants will be paying him if he sticks. My guess is it's slightly above the minimum, which would mean Braves would pay $13,000,000 - $500,000 (or thereabouts given pro-ration and the fact that Uggla's major league contract amount with the Giants may be above the minimum).
The other side of this is Uggla could light it up in Fresno and a minor bidding war could commence.

I think he's less likely to get busy in Frisco than he is to fool around in Fresno.
