It's actually really classless. He gave his all for the Braves and was always professional about the whole thing. Maybe that suspension he had before the release was the his boiling point.

I get flak for "not being a Braves fan." But it's perfectly acceptable to hate Dan Uggla?
I don't think most people seriously hate on him. He did give it 100% and it's not his fault his skills went to **** over night. I think most people hate the management in this situation. It took far too long to 1) replace him in the lineup and 2) actually release him.

I was never particularly enamored with Uggla as a player and I hesitate to term his decline "sad." A lot of guys decline and he's not the first to decline this precipitously. It's the nature of the beast. I agree with wupk that management is the rightful target here for the reasons he stated. I'm one of the rare birds who believed something like this could happen when the extension was signed. I thought the last two years were going to be iffy, but I didn't think he would ever be as bad as he has been since the middle of last season.

I was among those that loved the trade, even nailed the players to be traded in the deal (a first for me but it was more of a who'd I'd move suggestion). So I was excited to get Uggla who had been a Braves killer, but I still hated the extension as soon as I heard about it. It turns out I was wrong to support the trade as Omar Infante has been missed (plus he killed us that last week the season of the collapse). But at the time we had Prado so trading Infante made sense. The extension annoyed me straight away because Wren had recently said they had time and talked like he'd be smart and wait to see how he's doing mid-season. Then he goes and gives him a crazy extension shortly after saying that. It is stuff like that along with some other moves such as the Lowe signing (seemed like a panic move after losing out on Burnett) and BJ Upton signing (jumped the gun making a huge offer much more than anyone else, namely Philly's offer) that makes me not a big Wren fan.

So some people are cool with putting down basically every single player, EXCEPT for Dan Uggla? I am not surprised (Dan is white, soo...).

Now that he is no longer our problem it makes it easier to laugh at him. 0-8 with 3 errors in 3 games, he contributes more to the braves by helping a nl contender lose more games.

Man are you off base. Uggla has been the most vilified Braves player on this board maybe ever

Am I the only one that feels bad for Uggla? Yeah, he's making a lot of money, that's great. But the guy is trying his ass off and just not doing well. He's a professional player, it's not like he tries to suck. I think it's pretty sad.

He gets to retire in his late 30's and it set for life. Don't feel bad for any athlete.

Maybe on this incarnation of the community, but hardly throughout its life: there was a player nicknamed Sucking Vortex of Doom™; there was JD Drew, despicably loathed—even though he was productive—just because he's JD Drew; there was Chris Reitsma (shout-out to grooveone); and, of course, our very own Keith Lockhart was none too popular as a player (but nonetheless really found his calling as a message-board administrator).

I'm not sure he's even in the top 10.

There was also Dan Klob. Garret Anderson. Heyward has gotten a good bit of hate through his slumps, though it is balanced out by the opinion of some here that he can never do any wrong. Uggla sucked, but I don't have any bad personal feelings toward any player or former player. Except Rocker is a dick.

Feel bad for him? For real?
Does it suck to suck? I'm sure. There are a lot of reasons to not feel bad for the dude.
