if he gets over 130, then I feel confident that he told Snit/FO that he doesn't give a **** and would rather play.

Makes perfect sense for a team that has already either guaranteed Swanson will cost $10M+ during his age 29 season or is not with the Braves at all.

We had no idea you felt that way. How could we have missed that?

This would be hilarious if it weren't so pathetic.

The majority of this board goes nuts if anyone even mentions that having Swanson up was not a good idea. Most of that same majority goes nuts if Swanson plays too much to lose rookie status for next year so he will have a chance at ROY. The same most of the majority wants the team to win, win, win!!! to close out the season because it's FUN! and who cares what the long term consequences are in regards to bonus pools and draft position (but don't play all your best players IF Swanson is one of them and it costs him a chance at ROY!)

Not sure I understand why a club would want their player to win ROY. Wouldn't they have been better off with him losing rookie eligibility and then having the identical season the following year?

Even if it happened, it's really not that big a deal.

You're talking about like one or two people here who feel all those ways.
My rooting for the team to win makes no difference on whether or not they actually win, so seeing them win is nice.
I don't give a snit if Dansby loses rookie eligibility, and I wouldn't be surprised if the team didn't care either.
But it's weird to bring up fans rooting for wins and consequences for winning when we have literally no control over that. And you're sure as hell not going to see a major league team try and lose.
I think you're far more pathetic.

For monetary reasons? Sure I guess you can say that winning ROY means he might get more later in arbitration but I doubt it's that big of a deal and seems very cheap. Why wouldn't a team want one of their players to win ROY?

Is your only reason here is to make other people mad and then try to back it up that some have disputed?

I guess we have our punching bag. Congrats!

Swanson on a 2.6 fWAR pace. Pretty decent upgrade over Aybar.

who cares if he has rookie status next year?
the guy is a rookie this year and will be expected to not play like a rookie next year.

so with that, let him finish up his rookie year this weekend and move into next year with a different "role".

wait, if you are a ball player and have a chance to win a once only award you wouldn't want to go for it... come on, that is something he should want. I know I would if I thought I had a shot.

Dansby now has 120 at bats. He can have only 10 more in these last 3 games, or an average of 3.333 per game to keep rookie status. He has averaged 3.429 in his first 35 games, though except for last night were all in the 8th hole. Gonna be very close. Surely we wouldn't let him lose his rookie status by 1 at bat.

I doubt he's worried about it. if he is, he can talk to the team about it. i couldn't care less whether he wants to or not; it doesn't say anything about him.
