Both starters benefited. It's Bill Miller's strike zone -- nothing new.
Harper just can't help whining like a petulant little girl.
Harper headed a third of the way up the line, initially thinking the pitch was ball four, then continuing his journey to walk off the frustration, or perhaps to prove a point. He swung through the next pitch and raged at Miller, clenching a fist and yelling something before heading to the dugout.
So the Cuddyer experiment is failing in NY and they gave up a first rounder for the pleasure of paying him 21M over 2 years. That is some upper echelon stupidity right there.

I'd rather have Markakis. If you assign that 15th overall pick the Mets gave up to sign Cuddyer a rough value of ~$15-20MM (which is actually probably on the low end) then the contracts are essentially equal ... and considering Cuddyer looks like damaged goods?
I've never been a fan of the Markakis signing, not because of the player but because of the team -- but he is producing ... something.

Brandon Phillips is out of his mind with this play.

Decent debut for Aaron Nola. He had 6 innings of work with 1 run (earned), 6 hits, 1 BB, and 6 K against Tampa Bay.
Three problems:
1. The Phillies lost 1-0, thus, Nola is off to an 0-1 start.
2. The one run Nola did give up was a homerun .
3. The homer was hit by opposing pitcher (from the AL), Nate Karns.
Makes me feel good about our future. I think Tehran is going to bounce back with an off-season of humility and health. We'll be making extension decisions on Miller and Wood this off-season I would think.
The thing about the Mets guys is that they can dominate in a way that our guys don't. I know the numbers are good on K/9 for Wood and Miller but I don't see people blown away or lost like I do with the Mets guys.

To be fair to the DBack announcers, the editing of the videos make them look bad. I was watching the game live on their feed and the never wanted Jose ejected. When they were talking about getting him "out of their", it was moving him away from Peralta while he was down. Never once during the live broadcast accuse Fernandez of hitting him intentionally. They were upset with the umpire throwing out their batting coach, and then upset Leon didn't get a warning. The Dbacks bench should have handled it better, but the video edit makes the announces look way worse then they were.
Clayton Kershaw perfect through 6.
I consider Maddux to be the best pitcher since Koufax, and Kershaw is beginning to approach Maddux territory for me. To sustain this level of pitching for this long, and with his prime ages ahead of him...it's getting ridiculous. A K/9 of 12 with a BB/9 under 2 is just jaw-dropping.
