His slider is much better than last year but it still needs to get better. His main problem is that he needs a reliable 3rd pitch. His changeup is pretty crappy.
His slider has always been inconsistent in that at times it looks better and then like tonight they're fouling it or get hits on it for most part. His change-up he rarely throws anymore because it's below average or pretty crappy as you say.

Gant is warming in the pen. He'll likely enter in the fifth. If so, Casey Kelly becomes the top candidate to start on Sunday.

Me too. I like him better starting than out of the bullpen. Plus I don't think this is regular rest for him.
Tonight he's getting his slider too high in the zone and it's getting crushed. However, I think it moves a lot better than it did last year. Fastball command can be little rough but it's a lot better than last year too. He's made good progress but he's got a ways to go.
Gant got outs on his curveball, fastball and change-up that inning.
