Coming out of deep lurk mode to say we don't need to give Minor up right now. He will be valuable again. Do whatever you want with Gattis, keep, trade, but concede he is a defensive liability and please do not put him in the outfield.

I also wanted to trade Beachy for Lorenzo Cain and was laughed at. Would be pretty nice to have Cain roaming CF right now wouldn't you say?
No...this was like last year, after Turner had already struggled in the minors and majors.

I love this line from the article: "Upton will be owed about $47 million during 2015-2017 in the last three seasons of his five-year, $75.25 million contract. You’re familiar with his work."

Maybe Justin doesn't like playing with his brother having to watch him absolutely suck every night.

I don't know if one has to do with the other. I don't think it would help (could theoretically be seen in the family as "betraying BJ by sticking with the team who dumped him). But on the other hand, Justin seems to like it here (no issues like we heard with Arizona). He's been productive here. He may want to be involved with the new stadium. I think a fair offer, or maybe even a slight overpay, will be necessary to keep him. But I don't think he bolts simply bc of BJ being let go.

I don't believe this is a fact. They both know this is a business. While they are glad to get to play together, they know what's going on, and knew it wouldn't last forever.

No, that's common nonsense. If BJ was playing well there might be an argument to be made, but at the end of the day it wouldn't matter. They aren't joined at the hip.

Why do people think that Justin would want to go if BJ was traded or released? I think he'd probably like to play on the team by himself. BJ has been awful... embarrassingly bad.

Yeah... that is a flat out lie. I've been one of Minor's staunchest defenders since he became a permanent member in the rotation. If I have mentioned trading him, it's been for a stud current MLB player in now. Not a prospect. Even this yr as he's struggled, I've been right there to point out how he's always been a 2nd half pitcher and likely to rebound. And the last 1.5 yrs is closer to his true talent than he's been showing this yr.

And I literally never have had a huge desire to trade for Jacob Turner.

I just don't see how you can be so confident in that.

Being his brother I expect him to have a biased opinion about the situation.

No kidding. Lets get rid of one of the few bright spots in the lineup and replace him with yet another .290obp. That should clear things right up.

Yep his first 1.5 years when he was bad mean nothing. I always love that line.
