Also, I saw Neutral Milk Hotel in concert earlier this summer and it was amazing. Probably still my favorite band/album ever.

Any of you all listen to The Dodos? They're hardly new, but they just crossed my radar; I am really enjoying 'Visiter' at the moment.
"For all his tattooings he was on the whole a clean, comely looking cannibal."
Added the Michelle Williams vid for Wild Nothing "Paradise" on previous page. That version isn't available on the album (don't ask me why not). It's saved on my Pioneer Inno though, since XMU played it practically constantly.
Female voices have been pretty prominent in the indiesphere over the past few years. (Might give me an idea to share some prime examples.) Not matter who's leading the charge, they still have to deliver the goods.
Nevertheless, this tune has my attention and would like to hear more. Their local date is on Saturday and only $10 advance. Sometimes, there are still people who complain about concert ticket prices. This is the best value for the entertainment dollar. Even if it's not to one's liking, what did you lose?

The Dodos are on the itinerary for October. (See the link post# 102).

As promised, here's a list of every indie artist with a female vocalist, who's been on my radar screen over the last 5 years. This was never intentional. It was actually Jeff, the shop owner mentioned to me once that I have shown a lot of interest in female vocalists. So that this information any way you like. If anybody's curious for more detail, just post a message and we can get more vids included here.

This new act, Day Wave, is kind grabbing my attention. It's one guy, like Wild Nothing, but he hires other musicians to tour.

Both Diiv and Wild Nothing (a couple of favorites) have new albums coming out on Captured Tracks label this coming February.

My nomination for Song of the Year...and it's still only January.
Producer The Range pieced together unknowns from YouTube vids to achieve something truly brilliant.
Caught Yumi Zouma (vid posted earlier in this thread) last month up in Toronto at a primo indie destination, called The Garrison. They have a Mexican cantina in the front with very impresive bar up front, featuring respective selection of Scotch (Glenfiddich, the Glenlivet) and quite an assortment of imported bottled and kegged beer (Pilsener Urqell on tap!). The female bartender seemed impressed at my coming up the QEW. I told her that this place fills a void that we do not have back home.
Unfortunately, one of our local establishments, The Tralf, did not feature its #summerofindie this year, as it had over the last 3 summers. All is not lost though. Their booking agent has been sending acts to other venues, and a fine double bill is set for Sunday, August 7 at the Tralf. Sunflower Bean opening for Best Coast.
I used to be a skater and all into indie music, but after the hipster thing took over I found that awesome bands like The Jesus Lizard, The Laughing Hyenas and Mule got replaced by lame shoegazey crap that seems designed to show everyone how cool and disinterested they are.
