What do they all have in common? Well for one they all practice Islam.
And a vast majority of the Irish Republican Army was Catholic. There is a religious angle here, but your analysis would flunk in Logic 101.

That's not my point. It would be like saying all Catholics everywhere wanted a free Ireland and would be willing to kill for it. Again, there is a religious angle to this geopolitical mess, but tarring all Muslims for the acts of a few flunks the logic test.

And the IRA killed a lot more Brits in and around London than this guy did today. I'm not downplaying the overall problem, but people need to keep it together every time there's an attack of some sort.

A few flunks? How many would you define as a few?

No...it's most affected by assuming that a large number of Muslims actually wanted to assimilate.

The problem with this whole situation is even though 90%-95% in any given country probably would assimilate to a point there will always be that 5%-10% who either don't fit in or whose minds and hearts are fertile ground for the Wahabi BS that will apparently always be floating around out there, just like that crappy pollen that makes people sneeze and get sick during certain times of the year. Of course our schizo foreign policy doesn't help either.

I think you hit upon one problem here, what does "assimilation" really mean? Of course, they didn't uprooted themselves and cross an ocean to completely leave their culture behind, nor should they have to. But at the same time, there are limits to the way people behave publicly, with regards to religion or other movements. The rule of law has to be above any religion, period.

Don't go to big cities, major government buildings, avoid large crowds and don't fly with Muslims and your pretty safe. Or heck, just don't let any Muslims into the country in the first place.

It's far more than just Catholic priests. I will post a link when I get home.

There are probably 1000 teachers for every Catholic priest. If you go by percentage Catholic priests will be at the top.

That just depends on how far back in history you want to go. Religion has led to a **** ton of wars and deaths. One of the leasing causes of death throughout history.

Broadly speaking, I feel like that's doing the world a favor.

I'm not for conflating them with other people who practice the religion that they claim.

We shouldn't be fighting wars half the world away. We might destroy ISIS but we just create another larger group that hates us by waging that war. Evil doesn't happen in a vacuum. There are reasons these people hate us and do evil ****. Odds are if all of us on this forum grew up in the same area with the same environment some of us would be ISIS members. Thethe would be allahakbaring all over the place if he grew up in the middle east.

I was talking about the flaws in your logic. You've gone from the specific to the general as opposed to the general to the specific.

ISIS - Trained by US intelligence to fight Assad
Al Qaeda - Trained by US intelligence to fight USSR
    HEzbollah - Trained by Iran.
Boko Haram - Likely CIA backed and trained.

    You are using this syllogism:

    Hassan is a terrorist.
    Hassan is a Muslim.
    Muslims are terrorists.

While religion plays into this, you cannot tar all Muslims because of the terrorist acts of a subset of Muslims. There are extreme Muslims. In the 16th and 17th centuries there were extreme Catholics and Protestants that tore up Europe. Ask the Irish about Oliver Cromwell. We can't deal with this problem by issuing blanket statements about a religion.

An attempted attack (with car) in Antwerp just now. Knives, other weapons found in vehicle. Sounds eerily similar.

50, were you in charge of lifeboats on the Titanic?

Just want to know when we can officially worry a little.

So we are to ignore the role Islam plays in this? That seems even more absurd.

There is a difference between ignoring something and making ill-conceived blanket statements about something. Sh*t happens in the world. As for the Titanic, what's that got to do with this? I don't see the entirety of Western Civilization sailing blindly toward an iceberg and if it is, we've done that to ourselves, not by ignoring Islam, but by being distracted by shiny objects that have allowed the West to rot at its core. As a Scandinavian, I'm supposed to be the pessimistic Bergmanesque one of the bunch. Glad to see I'm not.

Europe is most certainly rotting right now.
