His join date says Aug 2017.

But since he didn't have enough service time since it was late August... he's still eligible for ROY this year. Well played by him to play the service time game.

I also don't think I started posting immediately. I remember it took almost a month for someone to finally approve my account for posting privileges.

Looks like whomever was the GM made the right call then to start your clock at the proper moment. September Call Up so you would still be eligible.

26 year old Soso will get ROY because we can't get men on base in front of Ronnie.

I don't think ROY is awarded to the player with the most RBI. Acuna also was up with the bases loaded twice today.

down another 1.2% since this post to 26.1.
Now down to 21% in the 2nd half with a 10.2% BB rate.

I think that may work just fine. I've also counted several 3-2 pitches called strikes against him recently that were just terrible calls.

His rate of improvement is the most impressive thing, imo.

We are seeing Albies slowly improve and adjust, but Acuna improves so quickly it is almost evident week to week.

To me what makes Acuna so great is his greatness. He doesn't have a real soft spot in his game and he's only 20. What will determine his long term success is going to be how he handles the league growing fearful of him. When you look at Trout, he didn't really start walking at a great rate until 3 seasons ago. He never was a poor walker mind you, but he didn't hit insane levels of 15+% until recently, because he learned the important lesson of sometimes pitchers won't pitch you. Acuna hopefully will learn the same and we'll see his K rate drop and his BB rate rise while he's still knocking the snot out of the ball.

Of course comparing anyone to Trout is not remotely fair, but I could also cite Votto, it wasn't until he was almost 30 that pitchers really started fearing him. That's what will determine Acuna's future success. How well he adjusts to adjusting, and if he does he's a true superstar.

That’s what I was gonna say. He’s seeing more pitches and his quickness to adjust is crazy.

yep, he's improving his k-rate while not sacrificing the power part of his game while also improving his patience/approach. it's incredible for someone his age.

    Ronald Acuna's last 19 games:

    85 plate appearances. 11 strikeouts. 11 walks.

That is a 12.9% rate for each. 8 homers in that span.

At some point we may need to stop worrying about comparing Ronald to Trout and start comparing him to the greatest hitter who ever lived: Ted Williams.

As a 20 year old for the Red Sox, Williams hit 31 dingers with a 15.8 BB% rate and 9.4% K rate.

Ronald has the power. The other metrics are not there yet but if he can sustain or improve upon this 12.9% and 12.9%, it's nothing at which to sneeze- especially considering how fast he has adjusted.
