In the grand scheme of things the AFL doesn't mean much but it still serves as another data point for analysis. With that in mind brave fans have to feel a little better about Fried/Jackson/Riley.

Acuna is going to be an absolute stud regardless. I do worry that this AFL performance will push the braves to start Acuna in RF next season. I'm liking the idea of holding him back a month or two more and more.

With a strong season we could see jackson/Riley in September contributing to a WC run.

If the scouting reports are real then how much of this seasons performance can be attributed to the blister problems?

Don't know about the blisters in the games I saw. I did see him try to throw his change with not so great results. Of course I just took it as working on his change. The blisters were an issue according to more than few guys at the games so there were issues there. That being said, I do think he's somewhere between a 3/4 starter unless that velo is "real," meaning sustaining it consistently from start to start.

Thats a big difference then and certainly warrants calm on his projection. Thanks for the input.

They should let Acuna go chill. He's too good for anything minor leagues and all this may do is fatigue him even more.
Aggression with prospects is fine, but being stupid is not. There should be a way to find a happy medium between a Pirates like idea of being overly cautious with prospects and going stupidly fast with prospects.

Tell us more!!! Do you have some information that would help? What are you basing your promise on?

If you are correct, then... yeah, but an unsubstantiated "promise" seems a little shaky.

Usually places like BA would take that into account before spreading the news, so I think Jay may be acting sarcastic because of the “Folty throws 102” fiasco. I may be way off base since he didn’t go down to the 80s though.

Have always believed that Allard was our best pitching prospect with fried right behind him. That changed with the emergence of gohara but I still line them up the same way.

It's all in what you hold valuable. For me, tools wise, it's Gohara, Fried, Toussaint, and Wright. That's crazy because I love Allard. Soroka at this point is the best PITCHER. Don't know what the penalties may be but pitching wise I'm good.

So we have been told Fried was throwing upper 90s in the spring and now in the fall, but was right around 93 in all his MLB innings? Newk was supposed to be upper 90s. Sims was supposed to be mid 90s.

The only prospect with velocity at the MLB level as advertised has been Gohara.

I second this request. Has someone been lucky enough to be hanging out at AFL?

Fried missed considerable time, so hopefully he’s just now getting his velocity back. I’m skeptical myself

In before the arguments. That is right. Every minor league game i go to, I find scouts. And everyone I talk to, I casually ask what the guns say and if they are accurate. 1-3 MPH is usually the norm. Gohara I saw 3 times before he got promoted to MLB and he was the most consistent. Newk was next followed by Fried. I was surprised that Fried was 92-94 mostly but could hit 95 fairly often when he was not bothered by blisters. (Yes, blisters)

If Riley starts hot next season after the 2nd half he’s had this year, he should skyrocket up prospect lists
