Haven't seen this posted elsewhere. Braves sign an OFer to MiLB deal.

#Braves also signed outfielder Lane Adams to a minor-league contract, will likely add him to the September roster as a pinch-runner and bench player.

Melancon trade is terrible for Atlanta.

Marlins and Astros won the day.

Yankees are the big losers. Cashman is such a dork.

My hope is they saw something in Melancon that they think they can fix to bring him back to 2016 vintage. Pre-Giants Melancon was really really good.

Not really happy about it at all honestly, and would call it a clear loss for AA.
I was on board until I saw what he was going to cost.

Melancon's been a solid reliever for a long time, but man, how on Earth did Mark Melancon get a $14 million a year deal?

He got it when he was a dominant-ish closer before he had arm troubles.

He was coming off a great year with Pit/Was, and he got paid well.

He's been pitching better lately but 14 mil even for 1 year isnt ideal. I was hoping they'd eat half the deal and it would be around 7 mil next year.

I don't think this was a deal that HAD to be made, but I'm hoping the front office just saw something they loved. Oh well, he's here and he's super reliable - at least he didn't overpay for an overrated pitcher. Love the Greene and Martin deals, though.

The same way all good FA BP arms get overpaid for too long...

We are a inexpensive team. This is a win now move and having to pay 14 million won’t cripple us. Basically o’day and Vizzy but actually for a guy who contributes.

I think taking on 14 million and shedding 40 man maybes shows you the off season.

This isn’t going to be a rendon or cole summer.

Jd gets 2/40 or the qo. We try to get a couple 1 year rps.

We expect one of Wilson, touki , newk or Wright to step up into a good cheap 5.

Bring back 1 of gausman, Dallas, Tehran. Sign a 1 year vet arm and expect to add Anderson mid year.

Trade for a rental corner of. Pache up next year.

Needed the 40 man room for pache, Anderson and maintaining pitching depth in weigel, Davidson, etc

I wouldnt expect to go after Cole/Rendon, but i dont know if i'd say AA will have a quiet winter. Quite a bit of money comes off the books. Kinda hard to tell until we need options picked up, non-tenders, etc
