I'm perfectly ok with this. I love locking up young core players like this. I knew they weren't gonna trade him this offseason and they shouldn't. Mallex is trade bait now after this, hopefully he can build up his value even more in AAA.

Very pleased to see this. We buy out one free agency year and increase his expected surplus value over the period of contractual control.

I'm guessing the year by year looks something like this: 2M, 4M, 6M, 8M, 10.5M.

Good value deal. 4 years of arb likely cost more than 30 million. Especially if he finally figures out how to push his offensive needle a bit past average.

Heyman reports there's a 6th year option!?! Gut reaction, but seems like Ender is undervaluing himself here. I'll take it.

Trading higher future money making potential for guaranteed money. He's now set for life and doesn't have to worry about what will happen if he has a devastating injury.

That's an amazing deal. He got a nice signing bonus and his salary will be realty low throughout his contract.

Yep, and will still hit FA at 32. It's a good deal for both sides.

Yup. ANd with the buyout, that option is basically an 8M option. Pretty sick.

I'd be all over extending Dansby after this coming season as well. And if Folty turns the corner he'd be right there too. Cost certainty like this allows you to go out and spend big on a FA if you want too in 2018.

He seems to have really enjoyed playing for the Braves last year and he mentioned in particular how comfortable he was playing for Snit. An option would make this an even better deal for the team. Great work by the FO.

Btw this move significantly increases his trade value. He won't be traded this off-season. But if we make a move in a year or two, the Eaton trade is a comparable to keep in mind.

He's still eminently tradeable, provided he doesn't immediately crash and burn.

I predict Mallex gets moved in a trade by the end of the year
