Also, it's not uncommon for guys in great shape or whom have lifted for years to still have bad form/technique.
I see buff guys in the gym still arching their backs in the gym on the bench, or not properly isolating their biceps on curls.

Back in the 90's, there was early discussion about incentives for healthful behavior. It's happening now. My employer reimburses most of my LA Fitness membership, which is $34.95/mo. It's basically the same as medical insurance plans, which offer debit cards. This is totally in their best interests, because presumably you'll have fewer trips to the doctor because of increased fitness levels. Some employers obviously even offer on-site gyms.

Hit the gym hard for the first time in 3 months yesterday after doc cleared my health. I'm very pleased I maybe only lost 15-20% strength. Last time I got sick and lost muscle and weight I lost about 60-70% of my raw strength for lifting.

When I restarted lifting I lost a massive amount of strength from my peak, primarily in my legs. Overall my upper body strength was close, but I went from being able to leg press at my peak like 450. To not being able to rock it too far north of 200. I'd blame it on my knees but it's more than just that. I lost a healthy chunk of upper leg muscles.

Not weight lifting for awhile and then trying to lift in the gym is a big slap in the face. It's so humbling and embarrassing.
