I've always wanted Smith on the Braves, and he has an option for the magical 2017, so he would fit the Mukaki Rebuild.

Justin and Hale for Seth Smith, Trea Turner, Max Fried, and Michael Gettys.

Do not want to have to pay Smith what he's owed.

Mariners reportedly turned down Taijun Walker and Brad Miller for Jordan Zimmerman and Ian Desmond. I think it's safe to say Walker ain't getting traded.

Just can't see a match, and I've tried and tried...

    and tried!!!
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

He's cheap. Look at what we are paying some of the crap we picked up for the bench.

Headley's off the board now. Sandoval's already gone. They might be backed into a corner with Chris Johnson.

I think it's worth noting that with Headley and now Lowrie off the board, there are no longer any meaningful bats available via FA (unless you count Colby Rasmus, who I don't think many teams will be counting on as an impact bat in 2015-- he definitely qualifies as a flier with potential upside, but nothing more).

Now Hart has the upper hand in negotiations with the Os, Mariners, Pads, etc.

I would guess this was Harts plan and why he hasn't pulled the trigger on Upton or Gattis yet.

I mentioned this earlier in the thread, but I think Hart has played the Upton game well. I could be wrong- it's possible that come the time the game is over, we'll all think Hart should have moved faster with San Diego and Seattle before they went out and acquired other right-handed power bats. But right now it certainly looks like Hart's done a good job of recognizing the value of the asset he's holding and not backing down from the price he's asking for it. I think that's the right approach.

I agree. I've been thinking the same thing as I've read article after article about how the return for Upton might be less than we fans expect, and less than the organization seems to want.

I also read where they were looking at Lowrie for 3B. Tough and weird off-season so far for the Giants. Win the World Series and then proceed to strike out on just about every free agent they pursue.

They can wipe away their tears with their World Series rings.

Um...actually, they probably shouldn't do that. Seems like a good way of scratching their corneas.

Not surprising. The emerging pattern indicates that they'll have a down season for 2015 then win it all again in 2016.

I watched Ross a lot when he played for the A's. A good pitcher, but not as good as Petco makes him look.
