This is what I had in mind as well.

Just a curious question for you guys..

KC was rumored to be interested in Markakis last year, and currently could use a DH. Now what I'm about to suggest is solely based on the opinion that said player can bounce back to prior form.

Atlanta trades Kemp and Markakis to KC for Alex Gordon. Gordon and Kemp both have terrible contracts and Kemp could obviously be a help to an AL team with DH opening and Gordon while he's struggled past two years offensively, he's always been a pretty good LF and if he can get back to career norms, could be a nice lineup addition. Am I missing how KC values Gordon?

I doubt KC takes both contracts at full value. we would have to chip in money for a LF who can't hit but plays defense.. I think I would just rather pay less for Kemp who can be used correctly and add value offensively.

I guess I believe the last two years for Gordon are the anomaly. Just look at his previous years OPS+

    2011: 140 OPS+
    2012: 123 OPS+
    2013: 103 OPS+
    2014: 118 OPS+
    2015: 119 OPS+

A 30 million dollar platoon of Kemp and Neck in LF is probably better than a 20 million Alex Gordon. I think Gordon is done as a player. He is just hanging around playing out his contract now. There's a good chance he will be a negative War player in 18

Based on 2011 to 2015 numbers we should hold on to Kemp.

Kemp can't play defense, if nothing offensively, Gordon gives you a plus defender in LF, making your outfield PLUS defense at all three spots.

Like I said, just an outside the box proposal. I understand the reasons why NOT and can agree with them but just think this could be an outside way to clear both Kemp and Markakis while giving you a chance to improve

If this guy plays without at least two injuries then aa sucks

Kemp should go in a Brandon Phillips like deal.... someone saves us a million then great. I’d rather have the roster spot. If we keep kemp I would make him platoon in lf with neck. It’s expensive but aa can blame that on coppy. Maybe you let them suck it up for a month or two to keep Acuna down

I think signing any free agent this class is dumb if it’s more than two years. I’d wait and look for someone needing a spot when the musical chairs fill up

I think aa is going to look for trades over signings
