You don't think extending our bench, getting Flaherty off the team, and possibly providing Camargo a platoon at 3rd base an upgrade? All of those guys, with the exception of Solarte, have an OPS over .800 vs. right handed pitching. And all three would be a LOT better than some of our bench options

Well, he did add a MLB BP arm...Venters.

He also said something along the lines of, "we haven't discussed a player that we couldn't afford", so it's easy to spin that if they simply didn't discuss players making any real amount of salary.

More likely the Braves were simply outbid on these players so far.

I'm fine with AA not beating the price the Phils paid for Asdrubal. I think the Mets did well in that trade.

It would cost a lot but Raisel Iglesias and Eugenio Suarez from the Reds would be awesome. Don't think the Reds would trade Suarez, but he's the kind of guy that would be a meaningful upgrade offensively and he's solid defensively.

I still don't think the amount of upgrade is worth trading prospects for.

I pray I’m wrong, but I think the Phillies runaway with this division. The FO has done a great job transforming that team over the last year. They’ve perfectly filled holes.

I got that feeling too...seems our FO is perfectly okay taking this current team through the season

Depending on what the cost is, I would really like to see the Braves target Kela for the bullpen. He is young, cheap, and controllable which would seem to fit all of AA's criteria. He has also been very productive in a tough ballpark to be productive. I'm sure the cost would likely be a major hurdle, but if we could get him for something semi-reasonable I'd like to see it.

Phillies are still playing over their heads. Offense is still mediocre even with Cabrera and their starting pitching is coming back down to Earth after a hot start. They're not running away with anything.

Besides I’m sure their fans are distraught that they’ve shortened their contention window. We don’t have to worry about that at least when all they can point to is the dixision crown.

We can point to adding .1 wins for nothing and laugh

How have they shortened their window?

The player they traded isnt a big deal long-term, they have plenty of money to spend this winter.

I dont know if they run away with the division, but it's not a crazy thought.

The upgrade isn't enough to trade prospects. If they are buying those guys like they did with Venters then fine, but the upgrade would be a game or two, if that, and that is not worth trading prospects for.

Well the rest of the contenders disagree. Let’s see how it turns out.

Unclear to me why Phillies wanted Ass Dribble. Not really an upgrade for them.

The price for Moose must be pretty high.

Folks, historically, a significant number of trades happen within the last few hours. With a significant number of options available, we strengthen our position with every trade. We have DAYS left in the trade window. Chill out. We’re in a good spot.

What does it mean, we are in a good spot?

What would lead you to that conclusion?

Have you heard that the Braves are in position to land anyone?

Very possibly - though the only real assets to move are Markakis or the catchers. So that sort of sucks too.

Lol we aren't selling. Get real people. Even at worst and we get swept, we'll still be at worst 5.5 games back of the division may be 2-3 games back of one of the wild cards (which we currently own 1 spot).

Quit moping. This is the first time all year we've faced real adversity.
July has sucked. 7-11 so far. But consider we've finished every other month at least 3 games over .500 despite key injuries to Acuna and several starting pitchers. We're too good of a team to keep playing this bad. Players will get hot again, people will get healthy and we're go on another winning streak. Have faith.

We were always gonna hit a patch like this. I think we have one more good run left in this team.
