    I can’t find a clip of Frank saying “you’re a Sobotka.”

Great big right hander, 6-7, 227. Fastball seems to come in from 93-96 with reportedly good sink. Also throws a slider. The Achilles heel for him, like most young pitchers (especially large ones), is control.

Some comps might be Brad Brach or Jim Johnson. Not saying he'll ever do what those guys have done in their careers but he's in that mold of the big, downhill right hander.

cycling through minor league releivers in the midst of a playoff chase is sub-optimal.

I don't know... a few of them have big arms with plenty of talent... if one or two stick, its yuge

It is kind of weird, but I'm not against it. Again, we're ahead of the curve and this was what we PLANNED to do from the beginning. We happen to be in the hunt but still have to get these guys some experience. It's an odd situation.

I'm fine with it. It's about keeping some fresh arms as the last man or two in the pen. Guys you can throw out there to keep your top relievers fresh for when you need them.

I’m ok with it. Some of these guys have real talent and can likely stick. Sobotka and Mcreery have had good stuff so they aren’t scrubs.

I’m watching names like Clouse, Burrows, Johnson-Mullins, etc pretty closely.

Kimbrel was cycling up and down from AAA to ATL in 2010. Only pitched like 20 innings that year. Nobody thought Venters would be as great as he was in 2010 either.

Do we have a source for this info? The Braves roster is not showing any move and I haven’t seen it mentioned any where else.

At present, he is the only hope of getting a major leaguer out of the 2014 draft. Try not to shudder, that draft went like this:

    1) Braxton Davidson (at least he's finally hitting for power)
    2) Garrett Fulenchek (trade for slot money that was illegally used by, you know)
    3) Max Povse (a big leaguer, but with Seattle. He was part of the deal for Alex Jackson)
    4) Sobotka, who signed over slot for $400 K
    5) Chris Diaz (does anyone at all know what became of him? 10 games for Rome in 2014, and that was it)
    6) Keith Curcio (had 1,400 minor league at-bats before his release at end of 2017. Playing indy ball in KC)
    7) Luke Dykstra (Len's kid was very much liked for about five minutes. Moved to St. Louis in 2017 and still in AA)
    8) Brad Roney (injured, still in system)
    9) Jordan Edgerton (promising debut in '14, released after '16, bouncing around indy ball in '18)
10 Matt Tellor (barely remember him. Big 1B, released after a month in Rome in '16 with .171 average and 31 Ks in 82 ABs)

A bunch of people that know Chad have been congratulating him on his major league debut that is happening today since yesterday in the evening on twitter.

Aggression with prospects is fine, but being stupid is not. There should be a way to find a happy medium between a Pirates like idea of being overly cautious with prospects and going stupidly fast with prospects.

    That is one ugly draft!

We might see ole Jacob Webb soon too. He of the 18th round. Yesterday was his first day pitching in the last 10 days. His previous 8 outings before that were shutdown innings and he's sporting a .97 WHIP in AAA

Here's the thing- we have to stick to our plan, and we are doing that. We have to see what we really have- while being in the pennant chase (which I think we will win) is fun, that wasn't the point of this season. This is all about the future. If we thought we could win the WS that would be one thing- but we have a lot of holes. Heading into 2019, with our surplus cash and a ton of trade pieces is a whole 'nuther conversation. For now, however, we need to bring 'em up and see what they can do. The above post about Kimbrel and Venters is spot on- hopefully one or two of these guys turns into a reliable high leverage situation arm.... just my .01

Well, when you have to play 97 games in 42 days with 18 double headers....you need pitching from somewhere
