Terrible pitching, no excuse for that. But calling a fastball 0-2 to someone who has been chasing off speed outside tonight was insane call by both Soroka and Flowers.

Soroka's made his fair share of mistakes, sure, but Flowers has continued to struggle badly to try to learn how to catch him. He dropped a sinker that was not even close to wild in the first inning and there's been calls that make zero sense from him in every start he's made with him.
Aggression with prospects is fine, but being stupid is not. There should be a way to find a happy medium between a Pirates like idea of being overly cautious with prospects and going stupidly fast with prospects.

Flowers is a bonehead pitch caller at times, if that was all him he cost Soroka a win most likely and allowed Toronto life. It is even worse a call since Soroka was not his best tonight.
