Gotta say, I'm beginning to grow pretty unimpressed with the trade deadline possibilities. Maybe grab Diekman on the cheap, bet on the stuff and the strikeout rate?
Yup. I don’t think there is enough sellers. I sort of like sitting back and watching the teams chasing us over pay for the guys out there. Then scoop up some value and roll with our depth. It is a win if we continue to weaken our division rivals long term.

I agree. Folks seem to be wanting an elite player back in a trade, which I agree with, but there don't seem to be any elite players available.
I wonder if Haniger could be an option no one is talking about. His name was out there a lot this past offseason and is a potential buy low candidate who could rebound.
thank you weso1!

I can't remember who first remarked that Pache may be an option for CF rather than acquiring another OFer, but that's an idea we haven't discussed enough as a possibility. He is a few games away from accumulating 500 PAs in AA, and the Braves need a RHH OFer, preferably one who can play CF.
Would he be awesome? Probably not.
Would he be better than Ender and Riley? I could be convinced either way.
Give Pache a chance in September. The roster loophole for the playoffs is big enough to drive a truck through.

Rosenthal says we are in on Givens... I'd personally love to see him and Giles come over. Givens on the surface hasn't looked great this year but as Scott Coleman points out on Twitter, since May 31st he has a line of:
1.84 ERA/2.95 FIP/39% K-rate/7% BB-rate
Then see if Wheeler is healthy... if he is, those 3 would be a huge boost.
Well heres something we can agree on. Givens has been torched by the Yankees a few times. Other than that he has been great.

While I don't dislike Wright as much as Cajun I do remember Enscheff posting the data on Wright's spin rates and how meh they were.
Gausman and Wright were throwing similar velocity with their fastballs against Gnats but Gausman looked to my naked eye to have much more movement. Wright on the other hand was throwing straight darts that weren't fooling anyone. Gaus got a lot of swing and misses on his fastball. Wright got a lot of pitches fouled away.
Perhaps his stuff isn't as good as we hoped. Unfortunately when I watched Wright pitch, seeing a tall lanky guy throw a straight mid 90's fastball reminded me too much of Retisma.

Its certainly not as good as we hoped. I think that is pretty clear. But he still registered a very good 2018 peripheral wise, much lower homerun and walk rates. I'm not trying to sit here and say he's going to be an ace, but the worst prospect he's seen in 30 years? Really?
Edit: Actually, in the minors his walk rate has been basically just as good this year... straight fastball mixed with juiced ball looks to be the big difference

Wright couldnt carry Brad Woodall's jock strap. Now there was a good looking prospect if I ever saw one.
