It is ending at breakneck speed and they have really crammed two seasons of needed character development into one. There were early hints that Daenerys was heading this way. When she was conquering Essos, there were several instances in which she showed little, if any, mercy to those she conquered. She also surrounded herself with sycophants who bowed to her wishes and spawned her isolation. Only Tyrion offered any real constructive criticism and when his suggestions often failed, it led to further mistrust. Let's remember, a Lannister killed her father and that was probably never lost on her in Tyrion's case and also fueled her animosity toward King's Landing, which we witnessed in the last episode.

The only prediction I will make is that someone with a Stark connection will end up on the throne. Arya on the white horse is almost too cheap to indicate much, but given how the season has unfolded, I wouldn't be surprised if Arya kills Daenerys, which may open access to the throne to any number of characters. If that's the case, the narrative will have come full circle with the Starks--the first set of characters to whom we were introduced--being paramount as the story ends.

She conquered the less civilized world and was not embraced in the civilized world.

I think the revelation that Jon had a better claim to the Throne than her is what unraveled this situation rather quickly. With her ego growing for many seasons that it was her destiny to be the Targaryen to retake the Throne, it was a huge gut check for her. Plus, she wasn't well received in the North and she saw that Jon was just a more likable person than her. It made her insecure and naive personality go even worse. To top it off, her trusted advisors were plotting behind her back. Her best friend died, as well as her executive assistant. She's now lost 2 kids. Her boyfriend won't do what she asks of him. She feels like she's loosing her grip on the situation. So going into Order 66 mode is her last attempt at establishing an iron grip.
Everything you said makes sense, but they crammed all of that into 3 episodes. You see the problem here?

Also, there needed to be more, or even a different angle taken. You can’t convince me that the casualties of war and a betrayal convinced her the wonton slaughter of thousands of innocent civilians was the way to go.

For those of you who care for spoilers Tapate50, the major spoilers released last week, about 80% of it turned out to be true. Here are some of the other points that may or may not be true for next week. Open spoiler tag at your own risk.

Spoiler:

• Dany will have Tyrion jailed and set for execution for releasing Jamie.
• Jon kills Greyworm some Unsullied/Dothraki and then kills Dany.
• Drogon looks at him, doens't do anything.
• Drogon takes her body and flies north of the wall.
• Bran says the Night King threat isn't over (so maybe Danny becomes Night Queen eventually).
• Guilt-ridden Jon goes up North to reform the Nights Watch and rebuild the Wall.
• Sansa is shown at the Iron Bank (possibly meaning the North is now independent?)
• Bron, Tyrion, Sam, Davos form a council to elect a new king, end up choosing Bran

Some of the spoilers said Sandor was going to live peacefully out on the countryside. That obviously isn't happening now. There were some others that looks like they won't come true. But the major points of last night's episode all were pretty much accurate with a detail or two slightly off. Example, the leaks said Cersei and Jaime would die embracing in the basement like they did. But it said that they were going to get roasted by Drogon, not have the ceiling implode on them.

Hopefully the prequel that’s starting to shoot this fall won’t be to bad. I hate prequels since we already know how the story turns out and character twists.

It has clearly been rushed, but I believe anyone who has been watching closely should have seen that Daenerys was going to turn at some point. Because the storytelling has been ridiculously compressed, the events leading to her final transformation are presented too rapidly to seem credible.

This is not new behavior for her. She has almost always been without mercy and killing people to gain more power. It was just towards people on the other side of the world before now.

Not to mention Arya doesn’t even seem to be in that episode.

Wonder who owns the TV rights to GoT? I can see Netflix or amazon offering hundreds of millions in a few years to revisit this like amazon did with LoTR

HBO. It's an HBO property just like Sopranos Wire Deadwood Boardwalk Westworld etc.

Hence why they are making all of these prequels and spinoffs.

I honestly don’t have much of a problem with most of that aside from Bran being king. Bronn somehow being on his council with Tyrion, despite that dumb **** scene in episode 4, is also laughable.

Now, let’s see how it’s executed. If the rest of this season is anything go by, it won’t be executed well.

Well, if Tyrion survives then Bron is the Lord of High Garden which is the economic and agricultural powerhouse of Westeros.

Tyrion has no reason to grant him that though. That entire scene was retarded.
