Beauty of this is the fact Maddux pitched so long without going on the DL, and never having arm problems.

Pedro never had TJ surgery I believe, but his velocity really went down at the end.

    Did Unit ever have TJ?

Glavine had the elbow surgery to end his career here, but was pretty durable for a long time.

Schilling and Boomer Wells never had TJ surgery, nor did Mussina.

Really have no idea what is going on.

Doc hasn't had elbow problems, but hsi recent shoulder injuries have shown concern. Lee's never had TJ or Oswalt.

King Felix has been able to avoid elbow surgery thankfully.

I guess the young guys now a days, need to learn how to pitch to get out instead of trying to throw a complete game shutout every game by trying to overpower.

Fernandez is going to be a thorn in our side for years to come, but I love watching him pitch. He just has fun.

5 mets players have been placed on waivers and Rotoworld is saying they are preparing to make a trade in the next 24-48 hrs. Club has Recker (C), Matt den Dekker (OF), and Robert Carson (LHP) en route to NY.

We could use Marlon Byrd right now. As long as we don't have to give up anything.

Interesting, I wonder if they're actually willing to move Byrd now.

Of less note Lincecum, Pence, and Lopez were all SF Giants placed on waivers and claimed quickly yet no deal is expected to get done.

    Marlon Byrd has been claimed:

Adam Rubin of ESPN New York hears that Marlon Byrd was claimed off revocable waivers.

The Mets now have 48 hours to work out a trade with the claiming team. It was previously believed that the Mets preferred to keep Byrd for the rest of the season, but Rubin reported early Tuesday morning that the team is preparing for the possibility of multiple trades within the next couple of days.

Pedro had shoulder problems. But he was also for a healthy chunk of his career comparatively handled with kid gloves. I think that a case by case example has to be made with every pitcher. Some guys have a 120 pitch limit, some have 75. When they stop repeating their mechanics or their velocity stays down, they should be pulled.

I honestly can't see anyone of significance falling all the way back to us.
