I don't think the bullet is dodged yet. Remember the royals are losing 3 of their core players without anything to show. I'm sure glass is looking for something from the braves if they hired Moore. I'm sure some international pool money or a draft pick would change his mind.

I don't understand why people don't think the braves can get a top notch person. The only negatives I see is the short term payroll crunch due to owing 50 mil to neck and Kemp and whatever penalty MLB passed down. I expect the penalties to hurt a little but they will be far from devastating.

Nick's contract is not a problem.
Kemp is rough but most teams have bad contracts.
The Braves have the #1 system in baseball even after graduating Ozzie. There will be suitors.

The Braves might beat the rush and trade a draft pick they are going to lose anyway to the investigation...

There are a number of GM's at other teams who do not function as final decision makers. Those guys in many cases work for the best baseball front offices and would be eager to move up to the president's seat, where they would be final decision makers on baseball matters. We can then repeat the process and hire a current assistant GM for the GM job.

It'd be pretty ridiculous and naive to let Matt Kemp's contract being a determining factor if I were an aspiring GM or GM looking to make a change. Yes it sucks but anyone with some creativity and competence especially with all the young talent that's coming through the pipeline should be able to make it a manageable situation and work around that.

My bigger question marks would be 1) how committed is current ownership about putting a perennial contender on the field and flexibility going forward to get the finishing pieces of the puzzle when that window presents itself. 2) How much meddling is the old regime, yes I'm looking at you John Schueholz, going to partake in decisions. Cause if I'm in that position of general manager I want to be the buck stops here and all success or failures fall on my lap. Everyone is held accountable no matter what position they are in within the organization and no more backstabbing and finger pointing.

Bobby’s HOF plaque describes him as “a steady hand” and mentions his brief tenure as GM before going into the dugout.

Hes already been inducted, they can’t take out his plaque. He should do it. You can tell he misses the game and im
sure he and Pam have had more than enough vacations.

Have to admit it'd be interesting to see what Bobby would do with a mega-system in place. He built the first one they had, but never got a chance to do anything with it.
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

Bobby is in his late 70s. A soon-to-be octogenarian retiree is a bad choice, no matter who it is.

There were always two possibilities with Hart. Either he was engaged and so knew what was going on and was complicit. Or he was so disengaged that he was asleep at the wheel. It's either he was an active participant or he was derelict in his duties.

Personally, I don't care which it is. When something like this happens you can't give Hart a free pass. If he knew, why didn't he stop it? If he didn't know, why was he that disengaged?

    Hart should be gone already.
