Minor league deal with ST invite. Good move!

Is it about that time of the year where my hopeless optimism amuses/angers/excites chop country nation?

This is great as well. When healthy, he's great. No harm, no foul.

Solid move. If he doesn't come back effectively from his injury, we only signed him to a minor league deal. If he does, we get a steal.
This is the type of signing that if it doesn't work out nobody cares, but if it does it's a big deal - either for the team or to be flipped.
Good low risk move.
Walden was hurt or hurting the entire time he was under contract to the Cardinals. His comeback would just add more validity to the Shelby Miller deal being the key to the reconstruction.
And to make this come full circle all we need is for the Cubs to release Heyward and sign him to a minor league deal.
Obviously, no downside here, but it's a tough road ahead for Walden with those mechanics and nagging shoulder issues. Should be pretty straightforward in ST . . . if he's healthy and the velocity is there, he should make the OD roster no questions asked. I'm not optimistic.
Good low-risk move. Walden was very good for us. If he stays healthy, he could be a key piece of our bullpen.
