The irony of capitalism making corporations side with the left because they need support from young people having dispoable income.

Interesting I don't read any posts from sturg saying the right has lost its mind when it comes to how triggered they are about Nike/Kaepernick story. With many threatening to never buy any Nike products again. Looks like they aren't going to be buying any NFL jerseys, basketball shoes, or even generic team baseball shirts..

Guess only liberals can be snowflakes.

Before any knunckle draggers start crying, this problem with police effects veterans negatively just like it does black people. When veterans are drug addicted and homeless do you think cops help them or just put them in a cage? Wheres the respect in that? Not only that but cops consider veterans dangerous just because they are veterans. If anyone wants to cry about your safe space being invaded by a kneeling black man then dont pretend its about respecting our veterans. If you dont supporr what Kaepernick is doing then your suppprt for veterans begins and ends when the national anthem plays. Kaepernick is fighting for respect for ethical policing of both blacks and veterans in that 99.99999999% their life that the anthem isnt playing.

I am sure Nike would be devastated by that 5% increase in revenue blowback. Both Nike and The NFL will be going long past this Trumpster fire.

I wonder what percentage of Nike's total market are shoe burners. I'm guessing very, very small.

The boycotters are dumb like always.

I think Nike is dumb as well though. Collin Kapernick is someone they could have got behind 2 years ago. This doesn't happen if not for Trump.

Meanwhile, it's great for Kaepernick to "sacrifice everything" by singing a multi million endorsement deal. Such heroism there

He's made himself the story and the victim rather than the good cause he was originally protesting

If she really wanted to stick a dagger in Trump, and I'm sure she did, her aim was off. Shrill, emotional people are less convincing. Her tone sounded as petty as Trump's tweeting voice. I expected more self-control and grace from the daughter of a war hero and longtime politician, not to mention a better speech from a now experienced TV person. Did America really need to hear that John McCain equaled American "greatness" from her? She would've been so much more effective with an understated, less direct approach and a more humble speech, leaving the political commentary for the ex-Presidents. Not saying that women shouldn't talk politics, but when they do they should do it without the cringe worthy sniveling. But that's politically incorrect and I'd never say it in public.

This has nothing to do with a daughter's right to say whatever she damn well pleases at her father's funeral, political theater or not. But it was theater, choreographed by her father for a specific effect and her tone was way off.
Black or white, Republican or Democrat, I think we can all come together over a shared wish that Meghan McCain be quiet.

Two weeks ago Professor Lisa Littman of Brown University’s department of behaviorial and social sciences published an article on PLoS One, a well-regarded, peer-reviewed online scientific journal, with the title “Rapid-onset gender dysphoria in adolescents and young adults: A study of parental reports.” Before proceeding, know that Prof. Littman is not tenured at Brown.

I’ll post immediately below the abstract and conclusion (and the whole study is available—no paywall or subscription requirement if you want to look at the whole thing), but I’ll reduce the main finding of this study to one sentence: evidence suggests that the recent sharp rise in the number of young adolescents declaring themselves to be transgender appears to be correlated with peer group enthusiasm along with intense social media activity. To be blunt, it is a fad, like eating Tide pods.
    ...
Brown University’s public relations department sent out a press release promoting the article for the sensible reason that a PLoS One is a serious journal. They obviously didn’t recognize that Prof. Littman had stepped on the academic equivalent of a third rail: touch this subject and you die, because it threatens to undermine the “authenticity” of gender identity politics, though there is considerable incoherence about this whole matter, since “gender” is said to be arbitrary and up to you to determine for yourself.
    ...
Prof. Littman is merely saying that there appears to be a social component to the trend that may be unrelated to underlying, inherent biological or psychological realities. In other words, in some cases, transgender identity is indeed “socially constructed,” which makes you wonder why someone should object to her article, since “social construction” is all the rage for the postmodern left.

But object they did, of course. The predictable thing has happened: following an angry response from the “transgender community,” Brown University has withdrawn their press release and issued an abject apology for transgressing transgender orthodoxy. PLoS One is also going to conduct a post-publication review of the article (even though it went through their peer review process) because of the avalanche of protests it has received.
Ever notice how nobody ever responds to these stories?

They just mock us later for "whining"

I dont agree or disagree with New Yorker stance.
The thought of Bannon being silenced struck me a tad dramatic.

Malcolm Gladwell too disagrees with Remnick

At least the endorsement deal is with a morally upstanding corporation that supports the rights and well-being of people of color around the world. It doesn't employ sweatshops or child labor or anything like that.

I was tired of her by the end of the 2012 campaign, but she's photogenic from the neck up and has a Bachelor's degree in Art History.

Except MLK had a good cause to bring people together and Kap could care less as long as he gets paid. He is spitting on the graves' of his own ancestors by disrespecting the flag that they fought and died for. African Americans died protecting our flag just as much as Caucasians did but let's not let facts get in the way.
