I felt stronger about the 2002 team than I did the 2003.
2002 team was built for the postseason. Amazing rotation and amazing bullpen with a decent offense. Versus the 2003 team which had a really powerful offense but really weak pitching. That 2003 bullpen outside of Smoltz was pretty meh. Holmes was reliable but not as good as he was in 2002. Burger King...

I mean, baseball is supposed to be a pass time or a hobby. All of the years we won the division, the team gave us something to root for all season long. It didn't matter if we lost in the playoffs, you can't take away those 6 months of enjoyment. That's what I don't get about someone saying the season is a failure if we don't win the playoffs. Try rooting for a team who never contends and you'll know the difference.

LOL...nothing like unreasonable expectations fueled by pure "what have you done for me lately" emotion.
This team won 67, 68 and 72 games the last 3 years...
Perhaps we can maintain just a small shred of perspective here? Like...a tiny sliver? This season has already been a resounding success.

Logical thought isn't your forte...
Claiming this season to be a success after being a 70 win team for 3 years has nothing to do with not being able to explain the current success, nor does it have anything to do with not enjoying it.
Nobody predicted this team to be this good, and that doesn't mean it isn't explainable. We know exactly why this team is good despite the fact nobody predicted it.
And yes, the success of the previous teams is directly related to the success of this team.

Absolutely this season has been a resounding success. But the Atlanta fanbase has waited, what, 16 years since they even won a playoff series? It would be awesome if they could win the NLDS....i'm okay if they go to the NLCS and get beat by a better team...
Gives our guys some experience to dominate next season!

Success is measured by titles and championships in my mind. Winning the division/making the playoffs is a welcomed thing and a step towards being successful. I don’t buy the whole momentum into next season or building of off last years results and having them play into the next campaign. Not winning the World Series isn’t a total failure, but you came up short nonetheless.
8.5 up on Nats.
Magic Number now 8 over Washington.
Despite one of the worst managerial decisions I’ve ever seen made by Joe Maddon, the Cubs beat the Gnats in ten innings. So the Braves now lead Washington by 8.5 games, meaning the very best the Gnats can do this weekend is get to within 5.5 of Atlanta.
Seriously Maddon, what were you thinking having Strop hit?
