    Is Soroka Ready?

Soroka has been dominant at every level he has been at, similar to what Acuna has done up until recently as a hitter. I know that it might be tough to find him a spot in the rotation immediately since our rotation is actually performing pretty good right now. Plus we have the imminent arrival of Gohara very soon so we have a bit of a log jam. But lets pretend that we had a spot open right now. Would you call him up? I think I probably would. I think he would be just fine in the majors right now and would probably be a breath of fresh air in the rotation given his elite command.

As soon as a spot is up for grabs, I say call him up, but keep him as far away from Chuck Hernandez as possible. Like, if Chuck even says hello to him we fine him half his salary.

Would rather fire our coaching staff before bringing up anymore pitchers.

After Wisler's spot is taken by Gohara, Soroka is likely the next guy up unless Sanchez is ready to roll and still hasn't turned into a pumpkin.

Who knows who he will replace, but Gohara could pull a hammy running to the post game spread, McCarthy could dislocate his shoulder reaching for the clubhouse TV remote, Newk could throw 11 straight heaters over the backstop, Folty's head could literally explode, or Julio's velocity could drop to 85 mph.

Pulling a hammy running to post game spread was pretty good.

Yeah I agree. I just can't wait to see what Soroka does at the ML level. If he was really sitting in the mid 90s during the spring and in AAA, I think he is a no doubt one of the top pitching prospects in baseball. Probably the safest pitching prospect I have seen in half a decade.

Braves will either trade Folty the first chance they get or move him to the pen. Thats when Soroka takes the ball.

He is. AA said he is really close.

They could wait until next year and play the service time game.

I think he will come up after the deadline. I think the Braves will either have an injury or they will look to make a deal to open up a spot.

He is still very young. And if he's really good bringing him up this early could be an expensive decision. But he's a pitcher and they only have so many bullets in the gun. You do not know if they have 20 years of bullets or 5 so I think the prevailing wisdom is to bring them up when they are useful and not worry as much about service time.

wow, guy discussing his sequencing and thought process in-depth is so fun to read. his mind is on a different level than most 20 year olds.

"There’s no point in changing the grip to have an okay changeup all the time, instead of working toward having a really good one all the time. That makes sense, right? We’re always trying to get better and be the best we can. That’s it.”

    Sheesh!

Incredibly impressive interview. I'm extremely excited about Soroka. Love to hear that Scherzer is his favorite pitch.

This article is one of those times I wish I actually understood the mechanics of pitching.

He sounds like he has the head to be a good one for a long time.

Its an interesting list. You forgot Inciarte.

I think our core players the next few years are going to be: Freeman, Inciarte, Acuna, Albies, Gohara and Soroka. The others are more supporting players imo. But those six are gonna each player in multiple All-Star games the next few years.
