Julion is divisive in part because he has a long track record of outperforming his peripherals. Against the Cards I prefer Julion as 4th starter and Folty as long man.

Actually I'm on the fence right now between Soroka, Fried and Keuchel for game 1. Depends on how they do in their next start. Right now I lean slightly toward Soroka.

To me it's pointless to look at a players stats vs a team. Teheran could have faced the Cardinals 3 years ago when they had a totally different lineup. It's always going to be small sample size, but at least look at his matchups vs current Cardinals players.

Soroka starts for me unless we see signs of fatigue effecting him.

I'd look especially at the results against Goldscmidt and Ozuna, who have spent most of their careers with other teams.

The match-ups are what it comes down to either way. Though a lot of success against a team vs the opposite can effect how confident a pitcher is against a team.

Even though he has been giving up some runs in recent games, Fried has had dominant peripherals. He's been getting BABIPed lately. Keuchel has been very consistent and has the experience pitching in big games. It's a close call between those three.

here is guessing we clinch against Philly on Thursday - my son and I will make the game if it’s on the table. As if any of you fellow nerds care..

Teheran holds the former to a OPS under .500 and Ozuna is the hitter in the Cardinals line-up that hits Teheran hard. However, Teheran K'd held him to 0-3 with 2 K's and two walks this year.

How do those two do against Folty.

Look, people. Stop ignoring facts. Julio can't get out Daniel Descalso, who was a Cardinal from 2010-2014. Keuchel can't retire David Freese, who was a Card from 2010-2013. Folty gets wrecked by 2012-18 Card Matt Adams. We have to stay away from these guys who have been around long enou8gh to find their nemeses! Only logical playoff rotation: Soroka, Fried, Touki, Bryse, with Ian on standby.

Folty also holds Goldy to an OPS under .500, though Goldy is 2-6 against him this year. Ozuna hits Folty but not as hard as Teheran, .790 OPS. It is mostly solo homers as Ozuna only hits .200 for average against him. Folty's issue vs the Cardinals is more Molina and Wong along with the homerun ball.

Cubs may overtake the Cardinals if they keep blowing 9th inning leads like they did today.

Cubs and Cards face 7 more times, 4 next weekend in Wrigley and 3 in Busch to end the year.

I think the Cards hang on but it'll be interesting, Cubs are starting to hit as of late.

Julion owns Molina. Something to consider.

Rizzo's injury could hurt the Cubs too, depending on how bad it is.

    And Trout.

For the rest of the season, I want Acuna wrapped in bubble wrap and Freeman in the Travolta-Gyllenhaal bubble.
