And here's what Theo actually said about Bryant...and Rizzo: "Given what we're trying to accomplish, it would be virtually impossible to envision the deal that would make sense to move them. I just don't believe in untouchables. Why limit yourself?"

I'm going to go ahead and guess Bryant is not traded.

That's $100M or more in surplus value. If Pache is the Braves most valuable prospect, and is a FV 60 guy, he's worth about $60M.

So yeah, the package for Bryant would be massive.
Okay yeah my estimate is right around where yours is. That would be a massive package, but if I had to choose between paying 75 million for JT or 110 million for Bryant, I'm taking Bryant all day I think.

If Bryant really is available then there is the corner outfielder with pop you’d want. He’s not a FA until 2022 either. I’m sure Riley, Wright, Pache, and Allard would get their attention.

Scrap Realmuto and give me Bryant if the difference in a trade would be one prospect. Then you could sign Grandal instead. That lineup would be nasty.

Given what Epstein said, I'm thinking that Enscheff is right and that Bryant won't be moved unless it is a significant overpay or something that "blows their socks off" so to speak. I feel like the Braves would be absolutely willing to pay the SV price on a Bryant trade, but I don't think Epstein would be inclined to accept it unless it was something we were uncomfortable with.

    He isn't available.

No team is going to give up the amount of MLB-ready talent required to get Bryant from a Cubs team in the middle of their contention window.

I don’t even know why Epstein would come out and say anything bc all it’s gonna do is piss Bryant off even more. That clubhouse must be in bad shape bc they probably aren’t gonna bring Maddon back either.

He's available in the same way Freeman is available.

Yeah, Bryant is available if we include Acuna or may be Albies. Otherwise, he isn't getting traded short of the Jays offering up Vlad Jr. and Bichette or Nats offering up Soto

Cubs shouldn't trade Bryant for Soto. That would just make them older as a team.

Theo said they are open to trading but Bryant and Rizzo would be harder to get. So what about Baez? Dansby could be used in a trade for Baez. Thoughts?

I think it foolish to trade Dansby- he is elite on defense, and we honestly don’t have a clue about his bat- he has been hiding injuries and showing a lot of guts. Looks to me like he got a lot better at recognizing the MLB slider this season... he very well may continue to be a below average bat, or he could really blossom and we’d regret the hell out of it...

I doubt you’d regret it if Baez was his replacement. I love Dansby but he’ll never sniff the season Baez just had.

And what makes you think Baez is available?

I’ll admit it doesn’t make sense bc they are in their window to compete but maybe they are willing to trade a hitter to pick a few more pieces to extend the window. Theo coming out saying what he has is weird.

Not even in the same ball park. But he is the type of guy I'd offer a haul for. I just don't think he will be dealt

Theo was just stating the obvious to get a little press on what was a seriously slow news day. It's the reality of baseball in the numbers-age. Bill James said it himself - "the game isn't about the players, they're no more valuable than the hot dog vendors".

Funny thing he left out, Acuna's as interchangeable as everybody else and available for trade today - send Bregman and Tucker and he's yours.

Theo was lonely and misses the spotlight, so he gave the reporters something to run with so they'd come talk to him for a few days. Kinda like when The Blackjack Dealer has been away from this board for 4 hours.
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?
