I’d appreciate some clarity on which votes are legitimate and which are not.

Hey, a senator made a lynching “joke”

I’ll let you take a guess what political party they were part of

Actually, it wasn't a joke and the phrase was "public hanging". It was an extremely insensitive comment and maybe a dog whistle, but you're right about which party said it.

If there was ever a time for a tsunami as nsacpi promised us, it would be against this President. Momentum was there. Hatred for Trump was there. And they flipped 27 seats and lost Senate seats. 2010 flipped 63 house seats and 6 senate seats.

    Update the numbers.

In fairness, I would have been posting PBP here, but it was 4-5am in Greece when the first returns started coming in. When I woke up around 7-8am local time there it did not look very good I'll be honest.

A week later and it looks a lot better.

I'll admit I didn't look at a lot of the US House races beyond Minnesota and didn't think I'd need to after the Dems passed the threshold of control. Then I look at some of the individual races like Dave Brat and Dana Rohrbacher losing and realize that this was fairly momentous in a number of ways. Being what they are, mid-terms aren't always a true measure of the political barometer, but this article from today's NY Times kind of sums up the opportunities and dangers for both sides: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/11/13/u...tic-gains.html

Ocasio-Cortez and company will make a lot of noise, but I hope that a sensible tone of progressive legislation takes root instead of random hook shots from half court.

Both sides promised marijuana reform after the midterms. Democrats full legalization and Republicans federal legalization of medical marijuana. Now that the votes are in neither will honor that commitment. Disgusting.

Exhibit A as to why straight ticket voting is pure idiocy.

The lack of backbone and them choosing party over country has me being a lost vote for any republican/trump party member ever again

Say outside of maybe local elections of me personally knowing the Republican

Selling out to a wanna be dictator has consequences

Not nearly as dire as the consequences of electing 59 amateur judges.

But yeah. Point here: we shouldn’t elect judges on the basis of political party, and we shouldn’t be OK with straight ticket voting - for a plethora of reasons entirely unrelated to President Trump or the Republicans.

the electorate sees it otherwise and you only have yourself or the orange one to blame for it swinging that way with how he has conducted himself with no one willing to reign him in

as i and i believe you said

he had a chance to bring sides together

he hasn't in the slightest tried to do that and it is showing

I stopped in Athens for a day. Didn’t get to see what I wanted.

I was on the island south of mainland Greece, in Crete for about 3 weeks for tennis tournaments. I pretty much lived on unlimited baklava and cheeses at the resort for 3 weeks. Lol.

Before that I was in Barcelona for nearly the entire month of October. Going to Dominican Republic next week and will be there for 3 weeks.

this is absurd and dangerous. once again stoking fear. it's all he's got. how on earth are some OK with a president completely making things up?
