Found this on RHP Cade Cavalli:

"The scouts and recruiters love the fact that Cavalli can play multiple positions including third base, shortstop, catcher and he can pitch. Only a junior, Cavalli has plenty of time to continue developing at each position. Having quality at-bats is something Cavalli has done his entire career. With power to go deep Cavalli is always a threat for instant offense. His ability to put the ball into play is a big reason the Spartans are having success at the plate and scoring runs. This season on the mound Cavalli has three wins and is one of the top hitters on the team."

They won't ever be able to sign him this late. This is a guy who some thought could go in the top 5 before his injury.

I think most of them figured BPA to mean the guy signing for slot value as well, but if the only reason Wright dropped was because he said he'd only sign for 7 mil, and we agreed to do it, then that's a trade off I'd happily make myself. Quality over quantity if preferable to me. As you said yourself, very few players from after round 3 actually make it to the majors, much less are impact players. Sign a bunch of live arms and try to find some relievers, and sign some smaller conference studs and see if you can find the next Goldschmidt. It works for me.

If we are ranking Top 3 Bonehead Moves it has to go:

    1. HO trade
    2. Swanson promotion
    3. Packaging BJ with Kimbrel

I am open to putting them in any order, but those moves were bad at the time, and have proven to be worse as time passed. They are truly inexcusably bad moves with zero justification in the past, present or future.

I don't consider the Simmons trade quite as bad as those 3 because someone on here was able to convince me that taking Aybar back was not considered added value, so his inclusion didn't lower the return for Simmons.

The Kemp trade wasn't in that group of terrible moves because they only took on as much additional payroll as Kemp is likely worth...even if they will never be able to trade him. Same with Markakis...can't be too mad at adding a guy that was worth his deal.

BJ with Kimbrel and HO. Both dumb and unnecessary moves for a team wanting to contend before it was ready.

Chris McMahon picked in the 33rd round... sounds like a high ceiling high school arm that will probably not sign... committed to Miami.

Jason Rooks... real toolsy outfielder at 6' 3" out of Walton HS. Committed to GA Tech, so will likely be a tough sign. But tons of upside there.

    From Perfect Game:

"Jason Rooks is a 2017 OF/RHP with a 6-3 220 lb. frame from Marietta, GA who attends Walton HS. Big and strong athletic build. Runs very well for his size, 6.84 in the sixty, has athletic actions in the outfield, fields the ball cleanly out front, long and loose arm action with good carry, arm strength can increase even more with better lower half throwing mechanics. Right handed hitter, hits from a tall stance, has very quick hands and a short swing for his size, creates bat speed, not consistent yet in his shift and hand path, ball comes off the barrel well, more strength in his swing with more core/lower half use. Very toolsy and strong player who can keep improving. Verbal commitment to Georgia Tech."

With our last pick, we took Baron Radcliff from Norcross HS... Perfect game write up:

"Baron Radcliff is a 2017 OF with a 6-4 212 lb. frame from Peachtree Corners, GA who attends Norcross HS. Outstanding high waisted athletic build, very strong with room to get stronger. Left handed hitter, straight stance, does a very nice job of keeping his swing short for his size, simple swing mechanics, quick hands with bat speed, hits the ball out front, gets huge carry when he squares it up, ability to time the ball was still developing but nothing in his swing or hitting rhythm is impacting it, just repetitions at present. High ceiling hitting potential. Very good runner for his size, 6.50 in the sixty, young outfield skills, developing arm strength, left field/first base profile on defense. Follow closely for his offensive potential. Good student."

Again, another one that we aren't likely to sign. But I like that we still drafted some real high upside HS guys at the end. Maybe we will get lucky and one or two will sign.

I doubt Reid Detmers signs. All signs are him going to the University of Louisville.

It's nice that we ended the draft with three higher ranked players who will be tough to sign. It'd be great if we can get one of them under contract.

Would love it if we could sign at least some of these guys:

Jake Taylor (C)... just because of his name really
    Randy Bednar (CF)
    Cade Cavalli (RHP)
    Chris McMahon (RHP)
    Jason Rooks (OF)
    Baron Radcliff (RF)
    Brett Brocoff (RHP)

Hope to sign J2 Justin Smith also.... drafted round 20. Here's his Perfect Game write up in HS back in 2014:

"Justin Smith is a 2014 OF/3B with a 6-2 205 lb. frame from St Johns, FL who attends Bartram Trail HS. Large frame, physical build, wide set broad shoulders, good present strength. Moves well for his size, solid outfield athleticism with good arm strength, accurate throws in outfield workout. Spread stance in the box, big time raw power, plus strength at contact, would hit for massive power with more incorporation of lower half, quick strong hands. Showed good plate coverage against higher velocity fastballs in game at-bats, showed contact oriented approach in games but has tools to hit for power. Good student. Verbal commitment to Miami."

Limit for bonus after Round 10 without draft pick penalty is $564,060. Maybe the Yanks don't mind surrendering a draft pick, but there's no way Beck signs for $564,060.

You happen to have a link to a place that discusses this 50? Not doubting your info per say, just haven't seen that anywhere before.

I don't believe you are correct about that.
