Kiley and EL constantly preach how foolish it is to draw any conclusions on prospects in their first taste of pro ball immediately after being drafted. One of the examples they point to is Waters, who was pretty underwhelming in his pro debut.

The Phils would be insane to include Sixto, but something centered around Alfaro and Medina would be pretty hard for the Braves to beat. It would likely take something approximating Riley plus Anderson to beat that package, and based on all that's been reported it's safe to assume JTR would be a Brave already if they were willing to give up that package for him.

I still think it’s funny that this was supposed to be one of the craziest off seasons...not only for the Braves, but also all of MLB.

It probably is even slower than last year.

Yeah, I mean there's a non-zero chance neither Harper nor Machado have a contract by the time ST starts next week

I’m wondering if we have the strongest offer so far and Jeter is trying to get someone to beat it so he don’t have to trade him here. AA would know he had the strongest offer and would potentially not do business with them in the future.

I have been thinking that for a while. Lots of stories floated out there to make us worry, but nothing comes of them.

What if Universal DH becomes a thing? We keep Flowers in a deal? McCann and Duvall platoon? You could rotate players using Camargo almost every day. Think it will pass?

You sure about that? I was under the impression this would be implemented this coming season.

I hope this never, ever happens. The DH is terrible.

The time has come for it, like it or not. Interleague play is unfair both ways. Now, if you want to end Interleague play and have DH in the World Series only, I can live with that. Interleague play is also unfair to some teams. We got the AL East last year. That can make a difference in qualifying for a wild card. Bottom line, try to make it as fair as possible.

Whether you like the DH or not it's beyond dumb that in 2019 there are different rules for each league.

Still better than watching some fat, unathletic asshole come up there to hack a few times a game and do literally nothing else of value. The DH is terrible.

Is it? Offense is pretty valuable. At least we don't have a GM anymore that employs said unathletic players and puts them in the outfield where not only do that not provide value but they hurt the team by being horrible out there.

So if Camargo is the DH, or allows for us to DH Donaldson/Freeman/Markakis/Acuna/Albies etc, resting them, how is this not a good idea.

By that logic, why not expand the rosters by another dozen, have all 8 fielders be designated fielders, and have 9 designated hitters.

Personally, I don't like the DH because it elevates terribly flawed players to star status. If you can't field a lick, have a noodle arm, and run like a arthritic catcher, you can still be an MVP candidate if you can bat .300 and hit 40 HRs. I don't like that the DH can make 3 of the 5 tools irrelevant.

It's not a good idea because it didn't exist in 1950. We can't have change and must keep to the old ways.
