Hamels to make his season debut. 55-60 pitches scheduled

So stupid having Ozzie hitting 9th.
    He’s our 4th best hitter.
    I don’t understand why they don’t put neck 9th.
Decent on base in front of Acuna.
The whole two lead off thing is stupid.
He gets less at bats hitting last

I kinda like it. In all but the first inning it puts Albies in front of our best hitters to set the table. It probably also gives him fewer AB's over the long haul to make sure his wrist is %100.

Acuna, Freeman and Ozuna should be batting 1, 2, and 4 (clear top tier hitters).

Ozzie or TDA should probably be batting 3, 5, or 6 (clear 2nd tier hitters).

Swanson, Markakis, Duvall and Riley should be batting 5-9 (clear 3rd tier hitters).

With the DH, as long as the lineup is grouped roughly like that with attention paid to balancing the platoon match ups, it is good enough.

I would probably go (assuming Ender is done):

    Acuna (R)
    Freeman (L)
    Ozzie (S, better as R)
    Ozuna (R)
    TDA (R)
    Markakis (L)
    Duvall (R)
    Riley (R)
    Swanson (R)

I wouldn't complain if TDA batted 3rd so Ozzie could be used lower (perhaps 5 with Duvall 6 and Markakis 7) to help split up the series of RHH.

The "second lead off hitter" on this team is pretty clearly Swanson. His .358 BABIP is still regressing, and his numbers are steadily being dragged down with it.

Riley is equally as clearly the worst hitter on the team, and should be batting 8th.

Swanson's xWOBA is 363 and he's produced a litter under it. He's been a little unlucky yet again.

    Speaking of statcast data.

Acuna is top 10% in Barrel %, top 5% in xSLG, top 3% in wOBA, top 4% in xwOBA, top 3% in hard hit %, top 2% in walks.

    Dude is a monster.

I don't mind batting Ozzie 9th coming off an injury. It limits his workload a bit while still having him in front of Acuna. Ordinarily I think Ozzie should be leading off followed by Acuna and Freeman though.

I understand Duval has been great this year but he can’t keep up that HR rate right?
Also Ozzie by career numbers is easily our 4th best.
I know Dansby has had a good season and taken a step in his development but still think you have to say Ozzie has been the better player.

I'm an enteral optimistic and hope Duvall has found something.

His HR/FB ratio is likely inflated but his xwOBA is .356 which is pretty good and 16.8% barrel rate is top 5% in the league.

I don’t know if it’s connected but Ronnie has been in a funk since he fouled that ball off his ankle.

Tatis Jr with another poor day at the plate. 0-4. Betts with just a 'meh' day. Good start for Freddie.

Thriving in the lead off slot. Imagine how many times he would have Kd in any other slot.

It could be on his mind. He's not swinging much on pitches that are coming inside.

Just like when Heyward got hit in the face. His career is ruined.

Cole looked great that inning. Thought he had more velocity than is showing but the curve and change keep the hitters honest

Hit hit 90 twice that inning and averaged 91.7 last year.
