I find it interesting that Smoltz is giving Anderson--a guy who grew up in upstate New York--a pass for not being able to find "his feel" in this cool weather. I'd think it wouldn't be that big a deal for him. Anyone who's lived in that part of the country knows how brutal the winters can be.

While I agree with you and fairly or not, Smoltz gets criticized by fans of other teams (Yankees and gNats come immediately to mind) as being too much of a Braves homer. I'm sure that he's (at least subconsciously) trying to avoid that criticism.

Yea, it's not really a surfeit or lack of Braves homerism; it's his nearly-constant get-off-my-lawn, Joe-Simpson-acolyte bemoaning of the State of the Game.
