I think the continuing trend of people being “threatened” with auto-checkout, etc, is hilarious. Like, if you ask for a living wage, then...ROBOTS!
Those positions that can be replaced by automation already have been, to some extent. I’m sure everyone’s experienced that their local grocery is probably already running lean, depending a lot on self-checkout. And guess what? Those positions that can be replaced by robots will be fairly soon, regardless of salary demands. And we’re a long way from the rest of the positions in the store being replaced.
Even in the low-wage economy, there’s still a lot that ROBOTS can’t do. But they still want people to knuckle under and accept pennies. **** them. **** their robots, and **** the bootlickers who want the workers to settle for exploitation wages.
