I really wonder if Omar is more interested in the welfare of Palestine than her own district.

I hadn't kept up with this outrage du jour, but that was ,all, Rep Omar said ?

A 10th grade World Affairs class would recognize the validity of her statement and reflect.
    No more or less

I have seen enormous tragedy in my life. I had to watch September 11 happen and I had to watch someone litter.

That's essentially what Omar said. While my statement above is factually true, there is also an implication that the listed tragedies are on the same level.

One does not preclude the other. Many members of Congress have carved out productive careers by taking on issues that are far removed from the direct interests of their districts.

Yeah, she lumped them all together in a way that suggests an equivalency. Not the first time she has done it. And I'm glad to see her get called out for it.

And if my memory serves me correctly haven't there been some other equivalencies drawn (right here on these boards) between what Obama and credibly accused creepy joe have done with migrant children at the border and what very poorly chosen one did. True or false equivalency. What sayeth ye all? Let's not allow the crickets (or cicadas) to dominate the conversation.

Remind me the only nation to use nuclear weapons, napalm 3rd world countries over rubber, bomb Into the stone age a country over a daddy issue and hold and house for lack of a better word an apartheid state?

We won't even go into our involvement over the years in Central America.

There is a poster around here who once compared China favorably to the United States, pointing out that China has never invaded or occupied other countries. Tibet and the Uighurs were not on his radar I suppose.

Btw, I think it is important as a country that we try to be as honest as possible about our shortcomings and mistakes. Both in the field of foreign policy and our actions at home, in particular our treatment of indigenous people and people of African ancestry. We shouldn't be afraid to have these things be part of the history taught to our children in schools. We shouldn't be afraid to consider the possibility that these problems have not been put behind us. That we continue to live in segregated neighborhoods and send our children to segregated schools. That many of us recently supported a presidential candidate who promised to protect suburban moms from the bogeyman, who encouraged the police to rough people up, who demonized Mexicans as rapists, who said a judge couldn't do his job because of his ancestry, who tried to racialize immigration policy to get more immigrants from Norway and fewer from ****hole countries, whose first action as president was an attempt to impede travel by people of a particular religion, whose start in politics was based upon the racist lie of birtherism.

I had read one time somewhere back when that Hamas was a fledgling splinter militant group until the Israeli's stopped collecting the trash in the "occupied" territories. Hamas picked up the trash

We once had a Speaker of the House that quipped " all politics is local"

To better understand the hostilities surrounding Israel and Palestinians one should read up on water allocation. Bearing in mind this is the desert.

Hamas is trash. But an occupied people without hope is not likely to pick out a responsible leadership. Which has served Netanyahu's purposes just fine.

We ought not to forget that things were moving in a constructive direction until Rabin's assassination. His assassin and the ideological allies of his assassin won. But I don't think they won forever. It is not too late to return to a constructive path.

    They stand for nothing.
    They believe in nothing.

The same people pushing the above stupid comment about the Koch brothers are also praising Liz Cheney.

They have no clue what they are doing and why they are doing it. Just do as they are told.

    Idiots.

They’re ****ing idiots. If he stepped down, a Republican would take his spot and it would be worse for them.

    Yep.

He is a blessing to the left.

Additionally, the senate dems used the filibuster 300+ times in 2020... they want absolute power and it is crazy to watch

That’s why I hope the GOP goes scorched Earth next time they are in charge. The left would be doing it if they could.
