    Witch Hunt! (#3)

    10 Republicans voted YES.

First time in history a President has been impeached twice.

    SO MUCH WINNING.

I can't wait for Guiliani, Powell, and Lin Wood to represent him at the trial. Sekulow probably will want nothing to do with this.

Little known fact: Trump started Trump Steaks because his first company Trump Stakes went out of business after the original Witch Hunt. Trump knows witch hunts!

If you hadn't had the first impeachment, I think the odds of convicting Trump this time would be even higher. The first impeachment was widely viewed as politically motivated on the right and that has colored the perception of this one for some. It's a boy who cried wolf situation. Now the wolf is here and the villagers are no longer listening.

This is one of the reasons why I was against the first impeachment. Impeachment is a gun that should only be fired in the strongest need and when there's a good chance of a conviction. That way when something truly worthy of removal comes along, impeaching the president carries the weight it should.

I could not disagree more. Nancy Pelosi taking a **** in the morning is viewed as politically motivated by the right. And by that I mean conservative media endless speculates and projections evil motives to everything Democrats do. The story of the first impeachment isnt over yet. I think there will be more coming out now that Trump doesnt have the ability to use the federal government to leverage people. Probably wont happen but Biden could demand Ukraine come clean and cooperate with an investigation into what went on and bring that back into the headlines. I think history would castrate the Democrats for not impeaching if they didnt and the full story comes out. I certainly dont equate what the Senate did to be an acquittal or being found not guilty. It was the first time in US history a President had a member of his own party vote to convict. And now its likely to happen again. Even without a conviction thats a big deal imo. We know these trials are not the same as a criminal trial. Its the equivalent of a trial where you get to have your defense attorneys as some of the jurors. ****s gotta be really bad to get those people to vote to convict.

They need 17 senators from the right to convict. I think they get about 5-6.

I think there will be at least 10 senators. Republican senators are almost a different species from their House counterparts. They are not so keen on the extinction path.

How Mcconnell goes will determine a lot. He just won reelection and might not run again (he'll be into his 80s by then) so he doesn't have a lot to fear.

He's going to take some senators with him when he votes. If he votes to convict, I think you get 10+ senators and conviction is possible. If he votes no you probably get 3-5 Republicans.

This feels about right. It really comes down to Mitch. If he votes against Trump, I think that’s the ball game. Otherwise I’m guessing it’s Murkowski, Romney, Toomey and maybe Collins, Burr and a couple others.

I mean what bigger cause could there be than the President threatening to withhold foreign aid for a foreign government to gather dirt (that's not there) to interfere in the elections? Come on man. He should have been convicted and the only reason he wasn't was because Reps haven't figured out how to use his base without him yet.

    Completely disagree.

Impeachment is not some super dangerous procedure and the POTUS is not a person or position that must be protected at all costs. The POTUS is a glorified bureaucrat with a ton of hype. It's 99% hype. After a president is impeached and removed, the vice-president simply steps in, who has pretty much the same politics and policy.

Pulling off impeachment is hard by design and lawmakers will NOT fall in love with it. In a democracy if the votes are there to fire a POTUS from his job, then that tells you he wasn't doing the job properly. The reason it hasn't happened often is simply because it's rare that a President gets so sideways of his job and his lawmakers.

Clinton should have been disciplined but he should not have been impeached, as the majority of people knew at the time. The fact that this Pres has been impeached twice tells you how bad he is.

Give the American people a little more credit. Some will bitch and moan but that's normal.

If this gets much trial time, the GOP lawmakers who helped the rioters are going to be outed on the record. I don't think Mitch will want that.
