Just so we’re clear, several on screen hosts at Fox News,

the station that complains that “the media” is in cahoots with Democrats,

were on a texting basis with Mark Meadows and urged the

President to take specific actions on Jan 6.

This doesn’t change my view of 1/6, but I do think this is a fun point. In addition to the obvious hypocrisy pointed out here, it also pours some serious cold water on any takes Hannity, Ingraham, Kilmeade and Don Jr. have had about 1/6 being a false flag or a simple peaceful protest. If they thought it was nothing, what would Trump making a strong public statement solve? The supposed plants wouldn’t care, and if nobody was violent there would be no violence to stop.

This is basically what I was getting at in my last post. I think calling this an organized tactical strike on our Democracy is nonsense, and probably is contributing to the Right’s harsh turn on messaging. If we had called it what it was, which is a bunch of idiots doing illegal things rather than roping the President into it and claiming he directly caused the ruckus, perhaps we’d be in a better place.

It's something I've never been able to understand. There were more legitimate avenues for political opponents to attack Trump than any other President. More blatant lies, controversial statements, and drama for the media to report on than any other President. Why did both groups feel the need to make more up and exaggerate what he did? It cost them credibility and convinced a lot of people that the bad stuff that was actually true wasn't real.
