    That's sad.

He was before my time, but a fixture with the Braves.

I started following the Braves in 1973. Hank was almost 40 by then. But he was the Man on that team, easily the best hitter. And he will always be the Man for Braves fans.

RIP Hammer. Thank you for everything.

I'm too young to have seen him play live, but I will always remember how much of an ambassador he remained for the Braves once his career was over, and how much of a true gentleman he was. Very sad and he will be truly missed. I'm glad he lived long enough to see all of the tributes that exist for him in Truist Park.

#715 came 4 days before my 6th birthday - shocking to imagine I've been a Braves fan since before I started school.
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

Talk about blind scheduling luck - Tom House was already about to be interviewed on XM. He was in the pen when Hank hit #715.

Everyone thinks about the home runs first with Hank, but he was an all around great player. Take away the 755 home runs and he still had 3,000 hits.

    Times a bunch.

Lost my Dad 4 days before Christmas, and now Knucksie and The King within a month. One of those periods you'll never forget.

Top 5 in extra base hits:

    1. Hank Aaron 1,477
    2. Barry Bonds 1,440*
    3. Stan Musial 1,377
    4. Babe Ruth 1,356
    5. Albert Pujols 1,347

Take out Bonds* and Hank lapped the field.

When I was about 9 years old, my Sunday School teacher asked me during class who my hero was (I think she was fishing for Jesus, who I do follow and admire greatly by the way). I responded "Hank Aaron." Her rejoinder was, "But will he be your hero when you're 40 years old?" I didn't know then, but when I turned 40, Hank Aaron was still my hero and, at age 67, he's still my hero today. Just an absolutely graceful presence in the game and a class act off the field. I'm right now looking at a couple of the biographies of him that are on my office library shelf and I imagine I will pick them up again in the days ahead.
