Shake up at FG

He started as a community poster on the site, eventually got hired on full time, and is now employed by the MLBPA working on "competition, fairness, pace of play, and the best way forward for generations of players to come".

FG then gained Kevin Goldstein: https://blogs.fangraphs.com/hello-there/

He was a fairly well known writer at BP who just spent 9 years in the Astros FO. He should bring a TON of first hand knowledge gleaned from one of the best FOs in the modern game. Think Kiley McDaniel if Kiley learned from someone smarter than Coppy.

So by my count, that's about a dozen FG writers who used the site as a stepping stone to real MLB jobs, and 2 who have came back after spending time in real MLB FOs. It's for that reason that it's unquestionably the premier baseball website on the planet. They made an odd push to hire fluff writers a couple years ago, but hopefully they've abandoned that course and are back to focusing exclusively on serious baseball discourse.

I love FanGraphs. I was worried they were going to have to shut down as a result of the pandemic, because they made a few pleas to their readers for donations as a result of lost ad revenue.

I really enjoyed Goldstein at BP and was disappointed when he was hired by the Astros.

I haven’t frequented Fangraphs as much the past couple years since Cameron and Sullivan left. I’m excited to have a reason to drop by.
