McConnell coming out today and saying that he doesn't think anybody is still questioning the legitimacy of the election is pretty hilarious. It will be interesting to see if Trump and the House GOP start trying to find primary opponents for McConnell and Thune and others in the senate who appear to be ready to move on with reality.

This was a McCarthy quote, not a McConnell quote. Even more hilarious- going to come as a surprise to a lot of his House colleagues.

The overwhelming majority of the republicans party supports trump and would support trump to run for re-election. Despite what you think of him it is not right for a leadership position to spit in the face of the republicans base.

Trump is being used to keep a hold on traditional republican politics which is massive tax cuts for donors, endless wars and kowtowing at all instances to the lefts color revolution.

This is not our parents GOP anymore and the recent information released showed that it appeals to a far more diverse base than any candidate in 40 years.

It’s here to stay and is gaining support.

It seems a good time to examine how we got to a place where such a large swath of the electorate (70 percent of Republican voters, according to polling) became willing to reject a truth that is so self-evident.

This allergy to self-evident truth didn’t happen all at once, of course. This frog has been boiling for some time now. The Trump period in American life has been a celebration of the unwise and the untrue. From the ugly tolerance of the pernicious falsehood about President Barack Obama’s place of birth to the bizarre and fanatical fable about the size of inauguration crowds, to the introduction of the term “alternative facts” into the American lexicon, the party’s steady embrace of dishonesty as a central premise has brought us to this low and dangerous place.

Jeff Flake takes a look at how the GOP got to where it is. Alas tis not a pretty picture.

Regardless of where anyone stands on the overinflated Cheney drama, we should all realize how sad a display Flake is making of himself as he tries to latch onto any excuse for what a failure he was. John McCain's Presidential campaign thinks Flake was uninspiring.

As a member of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, I helped oversee and then certify results for three major elections in 2020. I saw the detailed planning done by our elections team, saw them expertly pivot to make sure people could vote when and how they wanted during a pandemic, and asked tough questions in my oversight role once the results had come in and the protests had begun.

I can say with confidence the election was safe, secure and fair.

There was no foul play.

There was no vote switching.

The November election was one of the best we’ve ever run.

For certifying and then defending the results of the 2020 general election, I’ve been sued, subpoenaed and chastised, primarily by Republicans. For embracing reality, I’ve had my conservative credentials questioned and even my integrity challenged.

I take comfort in knowing that I am doing the moral thing by telling the truth to my constituents. I also happen to believe telling the truth about the 2020 election is good politically.

If Republicans become the party of the “Big Lie” – if we encourage this madness much longer – we will lose credibility with the majority of Americans on issues where I believe we have better ideas. We will do lasting damage to our republic.

True Republicans would never dream of wasting taxpayer money to hire an unknown cybersecurity firm with no elections auditing experience to audit an election that has already been audited. This is what the Arizona Senate is doing with their Cyber Ninja audit.

True Republicans would not stand idly by while auditors paid with taxpayer dollars chased insane rumors that ballots were flown in from South Korea to change the outcome of the presidential race, or that secret watermarks on the ballots revealed by UV lights would expose fraud once and for all.

This is what the Arizona Senate is doing with their Cyber Ninja audit.

We need more Republicans to return to dealing in truth and reality.

We have been elected to lead, not to appease conspiracy theorists.

We have been elected to restore faith in democracy, not sow endless seeds of doubt imperiling it.

To save our party, and to save our republic, we need to stop the Big Lie.

Just about every northeastern state has benefitted from having a Republican governor or two in recent decades. These talented men and women represent a very different stream of Republicanism from what exists in most of the country these days. They have played a useful role in checking the excesses of the Democrats and in some cases building bipartisan consensus for important reforms. Above all, they have worked on the basis of a constructive concept of governing, something that I think the GOP has largely lost during the very poorly chosen one era.

Of course strong majorities of the House GOP voted to disenfranchise the voters of Arizona and Pennsylvania (even after a mob broke into the Capitol). So they are unlikely to expel themselves over something like that. But imo that ought to be a firing offense as well.
