He's a Chamber of Commerce type who tolerates the social conservative stuff. I'm pretty much an extremist as social conservatives go and don't see much difference in the economic policy of the Chamber of Commerce Pubs and the Dems. The more populist wing of the Pubs is much more appealing to me than the traditional Republicans or what the Dems have devolved into lately.

If Kinzinger's third-party efforts ever take root (I doubt they will), Sasse would make a likely fit there.
Has Kinzinger given any indications of leaving the party? My impression is he is committed to trying to turn it around.

Kinzinger mused about a third-party effort after the riot, but that may have been just musing. Third parties come . . . and then go. Talk of them usually takes place when a migration from one party to another or between parties is taking place. Best book on it is James Sundquist's Dynamics of the Party System.

OK, so what do the Populist Repubs have on their platform that's different from the Dems (not the most radical) are for these days?

Aside from the social stuff, where it looks like the "moderate" Dems are happy to go along with the hard left and Pubs have always paid lip service, there's protective tariffs, immigration enforcement, opposition to racial discrimination, treating China as an adversary, less foreign adventurism... the difference is pretty stark, due to the extreme left turn the Dems have taken.

I think we can just about toss out conventional wisdom when it comes to politics and candidates. At this point it seems like Republicans have to go with a Trump ass kisser because they cant win without his base and they are more likely to sit out the election than sane Republicans. People seem to be assuming we are done with the crazyness related to Trump but it really begins when he gets prosecuted. I wont be surprised if we see more domestic terrorist attacks worse than the Capitol insurrection. The 2024 GOP candidate might be running on a platform of "I'll pardon Trump and/or destroy any state that prosecutes him". The key to 2024 is going to be the economy. Trump got the title of economic Jesus by a lot of people despite having the worst economic record of any President since Hoover. So 75 million people could show up again for the Trumpocrats. Will 4 years of Biden make 5-10 million Americans forget just how bad the Trump years were causing them to not vote?

You do realize that treating China as an adversary (which Reps certainly do not do) is just a disaster class plan because of Reaganomics tight? China produces everything. I'm not going to say we should roll over to them, quite the opposite, i think if they want a seat at the adult table they should be rolling over to us, but just pissing on them because it appeals to rednecks is foolish. Most people complaining about China are doing it from their iPhone, or iPad which were, you guessed it made in CHina, well I use a PC, where do you think every MoBo is manufactured? China. China is the only place in the world that can mobilize an army of workers to satisfy the American consumerism machine. Even if it wasn't a cast factor, you think a factory in the US could produce enough iPhones for a launch?

Now if you want to eff china, get on board with 3D printing improvments. As they improve and we don't need man power as much to build things, then we can tell China to **** off.

I don’t suggest this often, but this would be a legitimate “Move to Canada” outcome.

Desantis jumped Nikki Haley last week in the betting odds. Look at the odds for Biden. No way he runs again in three years.

Nikky Haley is the preference of the RINOS. She has no chance and won’t even make the final 6-8

Not sure about that. Being a minority woman will be needed to go against Harris. The suburban housewife vote, that Trump lost in 2020, probably would had voted for Haley.
