Problem with Maher is the same thing with every leftist that says these things. They will still vote for the same politicians that have screwed everything up.

Most protest movements will have slogans that are performative, narcissistic and deplorable. Should we judge the entire cause by those? Should the cause be tarnished by these excesses?

I offer the following chants from Vietnam era protests:

“One side’s right, one side’s wrong, We’re on the side of the Viet Cong!”

“Save Hanoi, Lose Saigon, Victory to the Viet Cong!”

This at a time when young Americans (not young Palestinians) were dying and being maimed in large numbers. In some cases being tortured as POWs.

Certainly offensive. Offensive enough to obscure the larger meaning of the protests? With the perspective of time history has rendered its verdict. I suspect with perspective there will be a similar accounting of the current protests over the harm being inflicted on Palestinian civilians.
