Low approval rating doesn’t mean that they prefer or will vote for Trump over Biden. They won’t.

Trump will get a nice little bump in polls once he announces his running mate. Especially if that running is a female or a minority, which most expect it to be.

Except the person he’s running against left office with a 34% approval rating.

History says otherwise. And the polling in the swing states favor Trump as well at the moment.

The final poll was taken after Jan 6. His approval rating was right around 45% entering November 2020. Then obviously we know what happened after the election that tanked his popularity. Jan 6 proceedings haven't gone the way the Dems had hoped. And obviously Trump has been polling much better than Biden for most of the last few months. Seems pretty likely that most Americans don't feel the same way about Jan 6 as they did immediately after it happened.

Also, in Feb 2020, before COVID, he was at 49%. And that was immediately after he was impeached in the house.

covid did happen and so did January 6...as did the rape of E Jean Carroll

to pretend otherwise is wishful thinking

It would be malpractice on the part of the Dems not to remind the voters in coming months...over and over and over and over

The point is, voter opinion is swayed heavily by current events. Americans don't view Jan 6 and Trump's "involvement" as negatively as they did in Jan/Feb 2021.

And lol on the rape bit. Losing a civil case is the nowhere near the same. Not only that, but they specifically said it wasn't rape.

Filing by Judge Lewis Kaplan: “The finding that Ms. Carroll failed to prove that she was ‘raped’ within the meaning of the New York Penal Law does not mean that she failed to prove that Mr. Trump ‘raped’ her as many people commonly understand the word ‘rape.’ Indeed, as the evidence at trial recounted below makes clear, the jury found that Mr. Trump in fact did exactly that. The jury’s finding of sexual abuse therefore necessarily implies that it found that Mr. Trump forcibly penetrated her vagina.”

NY law defines rape as forcibly penetrating the victim with his penis. The jury as the judge explains found that he penetrated her with his fingers. Which most people would understand to be a rape.

He averaged 41% for his entire presidency. Covid actually gave him a boost.

Btw, it's still too early to determine much of anything.

He was at 49% literally the same month before COVID shutdowns. It dropped to 39% by the end of May. I would love to know how COVID boosted his approval rating.

That's nice. But it has consistently gone down over his presidency. He hasn't been over 43.5% approval since December of 2021. Since the start of October of last year, he's been over 40% approval rating for a grand total of about 2 weeks.
