Just four days ago, the Biden administration launched a new line of attack against former President Donald Trump and his campaign trail promise to hike tariffs if he is elected in November.

Those higher tariffs would be "inflation-feeding welfare for the rich" that would raise prices for consumers, according to an Axios summary of a White House memo. The shift in messaging, The New York Times reported, was an attempt at "recalibrating" Biden's economic message in the face of stubbornly high inflation and the persistent sense among voters that the economy is not doing well. In effect, this is an attempt to remind voters that Trump's economic plans include the deliberate goal of artificially inflating prices—because that's what tariffs do.

On Wednesday, President Joe Biden called for hiking tariffs.

During a visit to visit today the United Steelworkers union headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Biden said he would move to "triple the tariff rate on both steel imports and aluminum imports from China" if a new Commerce Department investigation finds that China is selling steel to America at what Biden called "unfair" low prices. Biden also reiterated his opposition to U.S. Steel's purchase by Japan-based Nippon Steel, saying that the American-based firm should remain "American-owned, American-operated."

    —————

Can’t wait to see Biden and Trump supporters twist themselves into pretzels trying to explain why their guy’s tariffs are good and the other guy’s tariffs are bad. More likely, they’ll just ignore.

Economic literacy isn’t on the ballot if you’re committed to voting for (D) or (R) for POTUS in November.

RCP average went to .2 to .4 Trump

    Last four polls listed:

    Emerson - Trump +3
    Daily Kos - Trump +1
NY-Sienna -Trump +1 (one of the most accurate polls)
    Yahoo News- Tie

What can we discern from this? Absolutely nothing because the polls will shift back and forth until we get closer.

In the latest national poll by Emerson, Trump leads Biden +4 straight up and +3 vs the entire field.

Most recent polls in Michigan show Trump leading +6 vs Biden and +3 vs the entire field.

Wisconsin April polling now shows a slight lean to Trump at +2 and +1.

That's kind of how democracy is supposed to work though. There is only one that le took that isn't straight up who got more votes and that's President

We're not a democracy. We're a constitutional Republic. A union of 50 individual states. Ensuring each state has an appropriate say seems pretty important

Each state having an appropriate say is kind of ridiculous when we have states the size of California and Rhode Island. Republicans would lose their **** if the situation was reversed and Democrats had a disproportionate amount of control over the government/constitution simply because they occupied a majority in more states.

That's why each state doesn't have an EQUAL say. They have an APPROPRIATE say, relation to their population. California has 54 electoral votes and Rhode Island has 4.

The country is literally set up as a union of states, each with different laws and governments. It was not set up as a bunch of different regions and cities to be governed directly by the central government.

thankfully they created a process to make changes to such laws. although the 19th is a good example of change not always being a positive one!

Deserve has nothing to do with it. No one deserve their vote to count more than mine. And thats what we have with the Senate. Its unequal representation. I know all the who, what, when ,where and ,why. I am just saying it aint right. If thats the way its going to be we need the bigger states to be split so proportions are atleast somewhat close. Regardless of who it favors no one person deserves their vote to count more than anyone elses.
