Worked in a bagel store from 13-18 out of necessity. That’s where I started to discover coffee. My father always had the instant in the house. Could never get used to it.

there are very interesting national traditions regarding coffee

vietnamese coffee is a treat...most vietnamese restaurants will serve it...it takes a little while to make

india has a distinctive way of making coffee that is quite good...but it is time intensive and rare for indian restaurants here to offer it

I knew a Cuban lady a few years ago who would occasionally make coffee for us the same way her parents did. It's next level deliciousness.

I don't think that's an unpopular opinion, just one that most people don't follow.

Beyond everyone should be lifting weights, they should be combining HIIT with a more natural long form cardio (aka walking around)

HIIT is not for everyone and should only be introduced after the individual has a certain fitness level already achieved.

HIIT is for everyone. You just scale it. Not everyone should be running 40/40s or running pseudo football drills. But you can start light in a C2 5K type of system and pushing yourself from there. The advantage to HIIT is you can only push yourself so far. Sure it's possible to push yourself to passing out, but most people don't go that far without being pushed by someone (Trainer, Coach, etc.)

The biggest thing for a new person to the world of fitness is not to get demotivated or discouraged. In my experience of introducing lifting to the few ladies I’ve been with is to start slow and light. They have to feel they can do it first before making it harder for them.

Different strokes of course but this is how I’ve always felt about it

I mean different strokes is certainly true.

I think the hardest thing with lifting, etc. is self motivation. A lot of people find success in classes (Spin, Zoomba, etc.) and things like Crossfit because there's a communal aspect. It's why people often do better with a trainer than on their own. Then there are people who just like it. Finding out what you work best with is often a key. Me I work best super alone. I'm always at my best when I can do stuff at home. Sure it limits some higher end lifting as I don't have the plates to massively increase my deads and squats but I can shoot to improve reps.

Crossfit is good. The question will be in 30 years is a lot of the **** they make you do dangerous. I think they've stopped a lot of the really sketchy things I remember like Jumping Squats with a barbell. But there are still some that can be risky like Sumo Deadlift High Pulls (rough on knees) Kipping Pullups (so many things if you do them wrong can go wrong, even doing it right it's a nightmare on the shoulders) and snatching for speed. Snatch is an olympic lift and doing them quickly poses risks for injury.

But for the most part, if you're smart, you'll be fine. Crossfit's upper management is cringy though.
