You’ve given your answer. I think you’re wrong, and I know who your answer serves.

But, really, why not? Why, instead of trying to rush to a crowded polling place after work to stand in line for hours to vote—if possible at all—should a working person not receive a ballot at home and mail it in? What biases are you bringing to this question?
Bc i believe requiring some easy to clear hurdles would organically remove apathetic and/or low informed voters for tribe voting. Voting is important and putting some effort to have your voice heard is worth it if its important to you.

And, while i know you get a thrill up your leg to accuse racism, requiring someone to drive would disproportionately impact poor people who live in rural areas rather than urban areas.

Black people and hispanic people overwhelmingly support voter ID requirements. They dont want their vote negated by an illegitimate vote after fighting for decades for the right to cast it.

If you don’t want *certain people* to vote, just say it. For me, it should be easy or hard. If you want it to be hard, the burden of proof is on you is to explain why.

Sturg says it’s because if it’s easy, people will vote for bad stuff. Ok. Just go with that instead of trying to defend the legal case for making it hard to vote.

Congrats on co-opting the language of civil rights. If only voter ID was the only way to prevent people from voting.

You’ve said that you oppose universal ballot mailing. What if every ballot returned had to include a photocopied ID? Good, right?

Like, I don’t even want to argue this with you, because you have made your position clear and you’re just trying to score points and save face.

Because driving may not be the primary mode of transportation, and inequities may exist across all demographics—all of which, IMO, should be addressed, whether in North Dakota or East Atlanta.

As this board indicates, low hurdles won't stop you or thethe from voting so I don't think the hurdles will do what you want.

I do think we kinda need to zoom out and look at how sturg defines “low-informed” voters.

People who think the GA voting law are equivalent to Jim Crow laws are low informed. People who think Russia stole the 2016 election are low informed. People who think New York is the gold standard for pandemic response are low informed. People who think Walmart should pay cashiers $43 an hour are low informed. People who think the pandemic response isn't a boon for large corporations and ****ing over small businesses and the poor are low informed

All of these things are verifiably false. I could go on and on...

I didn’t realize it was a mountain of a task to vote. I always thought it was about desire. Those who vote - especially now with 16 days to do so- can. I can’t think of a barrier that would keep people from getting that done, if they wanted to.

Nope, its probably harder for some. Doesn't mean its difficult.

But no one is coming to your house to tally it down I guess like you guys want.

Like anything, if it matters to you - it will get done.

As a matter of public policy we should be looking for ways to increase voter participation not for ways to screen out "low information" voters.

Like I said- no ones dropping by your house to tally it down.

There has to be SOME effort on ones part. I guess that’s a hurdle too far ?

I'd be willing to compromise my desire for less idiots voting if we could better our education and media institutions.

But that ain't gonna happen anytime soon

How hard is it to vote? WTF is wrong with you people? It happens every couple of years. It’s not a journey to Mordor every week to go cast your vote.

Maybe I just don’t live in the Mad Max wasteland you guys live in. Apologies
