Wait, Wright struck out Astudillo? Isn't that dude almost literally impossible to strike out?

Yep - Astudillo struck out 13 times over the last 3 years in something like 320 plate appearances...

Yea. Joe Simpson was talking about how he never strikes out and that his nickname is La Tortuga or Turtle because he’s 5’9 225. Next pitch he strikes out.

Went to a AA game with him catching for us. He is not 5’9. He is short and thick. He slapped liners everywhere. A lot of line drive fouls. I think 2 hits. Dude never walked or K’d in the minors either.

Maybe we can have Newk pitch to him next and have that battle.

Braves had him for one lackluster seaon in AA. I was surprised he ever made it to the big leagues, but the Twins always seem to have some of the more novel players around. Back in the era when teams routinely carried three catchers, a guy like Astudillo would have it made because he's a decent bat option off the bench who can log at least a few innings behind the plate without costing the team too much. The Twins tried him at 3B for a couple of games and he actually cost them a win.

Kazmar makes the team and I'm done hoping for the return of Mike Hessman.

It was a bloop double over the first baseman’s head.
