Waters seems to be some sort of BABIP king. He's put up yuge BABIP numbers in the minors. Of course, minors don't have the sophisticated scouting reports and shifts you see in the majors, so it remains to be seen what happens when he gets to the majors. But generally high BABIP in the minors translates to high BABIP in the majors.

That's the thing that gets lost in the metrics most of the time unfortunately.

You can argue that it's easier to separate the bloops from the line drives in the more advanced boxscores now - that's great, and certainly helps paint a better picture to use when projecting players - but the one thing that some of the folks that become so overwhelmed with the numbers lose sight of is that a hit is still a hit. They're not going to take a run off the board if you hit an 18 hopper to the RF that happens to beat the shift that drives someone home.

Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?
